Unfortunately when it comes to such lists there are always a couple issues. The first being that most are extremely unexposed. In that they haven't seen all that many series or movies. Most of what they will list is what is readily up for grabs on television. The second is that Anime ends up being defined as a genre itself. Which is actually not the case at all. It is an art form that encompasses a lot of genres. So I decide to not just list a handful of series/movies. Instead I will just make a list of really good stuff, and put it in categories. Making sure to not list off others have listed. I don't know might inspire some to check them out.

Try some these out and expand your horizons. Some are classics, and some are just damned really good. There is just more out there then Shonen Jump, and what is on Adult Swim.

I agree with the use of genres in addition to top 5s, but I think you're being a bit liberal with it. Dark/Cerebral is not a genre. I feel like you could maybe turn that to a Psychological/Thriller, but at the same time, the show also fit into other genres. You should have expanded to Comedy as well as Romance imo. I'll divide mine up as well later.
