It's a legitimately good series outside the ecchi, i contend (and i loves me some ecchi as a thing on its own). The prominent characters are rather well-developed, the conflicts and development they undergo are fairly compelling, all while being partly naked.

I admit i tried it out of morbid curiosity, but Reina's plight and character growth led me through 24 episodes of hot action

It may not be my 5th favorite of all time. That slot really belongs to Naruto or Bleach, i was just being provocative ;), but i do appreciate it as a legitimate work

How many times have we had this thread already?

1) Yu Yu Hakusho

2) Dragonball/z

3) Monster

4) Berserk

5) One piece

No particular order, and there are many memorable mentions and the list always has room for adjustment.

Considering taste change and evolve as well as the fact that the past 3 seasons of anime have been phenominal. It's no surprise that top 5s change. I kinda stopped bothering with that sort of discussion since I started using MyAnimeList. I keep up with and have a good idea of my top shows as well as those of my friends.

While we're here, what's the deal with Honto ni Atta? It looks vaguely interesting from what i saw in your sig, but i haven't bothered to look into it at all...

I am very surprise that many people actually put Dragon-Ball Z as there top 5 anime of all-time.

I always considered that franchise to be extremely overrated. But still a good franchise. :)

way waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many to list just 5
but some of my most fave anime are

1. Hellsing series
2. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
3. Full Metal Panic series
4. Black Lagoon series
5. and of course GINTAMA!

so many more :S even underrated stuff like Straitjacket, Black Blood brothers, Baka to test, Baccano are so good..not to mention more popular stuff like Berserk, Darker than Black etc.

OMFG I ALMOST FORGOT BASILISK! love that anime so damn much

yeah I love anime lol

Honto ni Atta is fun. It's a short, 4-min gag piece. It uses some flash animation, but generally has a few good jokes every episode. With some neat characters in there, I found it worth watching every week. There's 15 or so episodes out right now.

(It's kinda like Fireball, but funnier)

Akira (the manga is far superior though)
Ghost in the Shell (including SAC)
Death Note
Fullmetal Alchemist (I have yet to watch Brotherhood)
Cowboy Bebop (probably my favourite series)
Darker than Black
Soul Eater (haven't finished it yet, but loving it so far)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Grave of the Fireflies (easily my favourite movie)
