Forums - Gaming - Capcom sucks

They have stopped making all my favorite series. I'm more than a little miffed. After playing MVC3 and SF4 I feel like quality has gone way down. They have abandoned many of my favorite series. There was a time when Capcom meant quality games for me. Not so much anymore. That breaks my heart.

Capcom is a shell of it former self currently just like Squire and some others. This would not seem so bad if another company stepped up to the plate to take their spots, but that has not really happened.

"A fresh new Resident Evil game" and you will forget that you ever said that!

Yeah I agree with the OP. Capcom has done some good this gen. SF4 is fantastic. Bought it. SSFIV looked a big enough upgrade, so I got that too. Now Arcade edition!!! And the price to "upgrade" off PSN to Arcade edition is crazy. I only got the SF4 costume pack when there was a discount going. Price is mad as well.

And then RE5... I am still annoyed about the "Gold" edition fiasco. I bought every single bit of DLC for Resi 5, but that wasn't enough for Capcom. HAVE to get the Gold edition if you want the PS Move upgrade. Forget it.

On the positive side Megaman 9 and 10 were wonderful surprises to get this gen.

But weren't they always like this? How many versions of Street Fighter II were there back in the day?

Street Fighter II
Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition
Street Fighter II Turbo
Super Street Fighter II
Super Street Fighter II Turbo

Just check the first 2:20 of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEVzPCY2T-g

Capcom has always been the master of rehashes and updates, since NES.

Street Fighter was the only one, back in those days (don't forget SF Alpha, SF Ex, and SF.  The running joke was that Capcom couldn't count to three.  We used to get new games from the Breath of Fire, Gargoyle's Quest, Mega Man (oh, did we get Mega Man), X-Men/Marvel Super Heroes, Darkstalkers, Bionic Commando, Strider, Maximo/Ghosts and Goblins, Rival Schools, Onimusha, etc.  I think it was around the PS1 era that the disease spread to other series (especially Resident Evil).

Now, when we get Resident Evil, we get RE Gold.  When we get Dead Rising, we get "Off the Record".  When we get Marvel vs. Capcom 3, we get Ultimate MvC 3.  I figure that by next gen, the updated version of a game will actually release two days before the regular edition!

It's arguable that I've forgotten already.  I hate the way RE Mercenaries turned out (no story, no structure) but I played the game almost relentlessly yesterday.  I bought SF4 and all of the costumes.  Then I bought SSF4 and all of the costumes.  Then I bought SF4 3D about a month ago.  I got Res Evil 5 and Res Evil 5 Gold.  I got Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2 with all of the DLC.  I'm a Capcom fan.  I'm just tired of taking their abuse.  As much as I hate them right now, nobody gives it to me like Capcom.

Officer: d21lewis, how did you get that black eye?

d21lewis: *looks at Capcom*  Stairs.  I, uhh.....I fell down some stairs.

Officer: d21, look at me.  You deserve better than this.

d21lewis:  I love Capcom.  Capcom will change.  You'll see.  One day, Capcom will treat me like it used to--Like I deserve to be treated.

Officer:  It's sad.  Okay then.  You don't want to press charges?  Have a good day, ma'am. *leaves*

d21lewis: Did you just say ma'am?

Capcom:  *walks in*  You dare call the cops on ME?  I'm Capcom, bitch!  I'm gonna have to show you.  Street Fighter 5 is going to release with ONE CHARACTER:  Ryu.  He's going to be buck naked.  All editional characters, costumes, and stages are going to cost $5 each.  It's time you learned who the fuck you is dealing wit!

d21lewis:  I got my money right here!

haha, sadly this story isn't exclusive to you, Capcom is a pimp yo! and it seems all its games are its bitches.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I also have RE5 and RE5 gold so I know exactly what your talking about. And now that I think about it, I was one that brought Street fighter 2 for the Super Nintendo and brought it again for four more characters.

Capcom can't win either way. People complain about rehashing and lack of innovation, but when they 'mix' up dmc or Resident Evil with new types of games people turn their noses up.

Dragon's Dogma and Asuma's Wrath look like decent new IP's too... hard to tell this early but they're the sort of games you don't see anyone else making nowadays. I don't think any of the other third parties from the east can really claim to have had all that great a generation, albeit I think that all stems from everything being handheld over there, whereas we tend to judge these publishers on their console offerings.
