Forums - Gaming - Capcom sucks

I care about dead rising 2 with Frank West and will buy it,just to counter this thread and bring balance back to the world.

Capcom is dead to me. Their last game I bought was RE5, and it freakin sucked. I've been waiting for a decent mega man game for years, but I guess that won't happen anytime soon.

A long time ago, I posted a thread about how Nintendo milks their older games and re-releases them over and over again.  Well, Capcom is giving them a run for their money.  I love some of their franchises (especially Street Fighter and Demon's Crest/Gargoyle's Quest) but god damn.  Off the top of my head:

  • Capcom releases Dead Rising 2.  Immediately announces Dead Rising 2 re-make starring Frank West.
  • Releases Marvel vs Capcom 3.  Immediately announces upcoming Marvel vs Capcom 3 "Good edition".
  • Releases Street Fighter 4 (with overpriced "DLC").  Then released Super Street Fighter 4 (with more overpriced DLC).  Followed up with a 3DS version (that has all of the previous DLC released on the card for free!).  Then follow that up with SSF4 Arcade Edition.
  • Released RE bonus mini game, The Mercenaries as a full fledged 3DS title.
  • And don't get me started on the re-release after re-release after re-vamp after remake of Resident Evil 1.

Capcom has been one of my favorite gaming companies since the Nes days.  Are they purposely trying to kill their fanbase?  I loved Dead Rising.  I could give a fuck about the new Frank West version, now.  I love Street Fighter.  No way I spend a dollar on that Arcade Edition.  I'm starting to wonder if Ryu is in more games than Mario!

This poorly worded rant is the result of frustration after reading the front page story about the upgrade of MvC3.  Capcom, you're killing me!  I came here to make a thread about why gamers should keep their PSP's in the wake of the 3DS and the upcoming PSV.  I'm not even in the mood anymore.

Platinum Games and is gaining the steam Capcom used to have. Inafune is departing,  Shinji Mikami is gone and so is Hideki Kamiya siding with Platinum, thus the rise in the quality of some recent Sega published titles. All Capcom has left are rehashes. They are going to need to milk it for all they've got. They also need some new star devs, now that their top three are out of the picture.

But weren't they always like this? How many versions of Street Fighter II were there back in the day?

Street Fighter II
Street Fighter II Special Champion Edition
Street Fighter II Turbo
Super Street Fighter II
Super Street Fighter II Turbo

Just check the first 2:20 of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEVzPCY2T-g

Capcom has always been the master of rehashes and updates, since NES.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

While I don't agree with their re-re-re-releasing philosophy, I can't deny they make pretty damn good games. I'll just have to learn not to buy the first version of the game (especially for fighters).

Don't forget they canned Megaman Legends 3. I still want my HD MH3rd tho.

What I want from a game.

Gameplay > Story > Content > Graphics

Visual Style > Graphics

Smooth Camera, Intuitive Controls

Friction! When everything feels right!

I don't like their re-releases either.

Still they are by far the best developer/publisher Japan has these days.

What I really don't like about Capcom this gen is the very low number of new franchises, Dead Rising, Lost Planet and well I guess I should count Dark Void (and still unreleased Dragon Dogma) but thats it. They must be missing Clover/Platinum even if their games bombed those guys are very talented.

Reading up on it, it looks like Capcom is a sinking ship at this point, it looks like all their talent took off for other companies. The re-re-release and recycling doesn't exactly help their cause, either. I know a lot of people in my circle of friends were pissed about SF4 going the Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Championship Hyper-Fighting Edition route. Sounds like MvC is doing the same thing.

Maybe they'll disintegrate and someone else will buy up their IPs and do them justice.

I stop buying Capcom games after Street Fighter IV.
