Agreed I stopped trusting the site blindly once I've been really paying attention to their pre-order data.  I see hard numbers daily and Vgchartz pre-orders are just horribly off.  Not to mention what NPD just did to their estimates.  I mean if they are this off in NA then just imagine what EMEAA must be like considering its harder to track sales over there.  Not to mention the Wii has been consistantly overtracked now for YEARS.  How can they still be makeing the same mistake on one console over and over again.

I still love this site and the community but there is a lot of work to be done in terms of tracking.  I'll always support the site but I do have some doubt with the numbers now until they can prove for a period of time that they are within that 10% zone of error cause they currently aren't.

nor i.  the americas numbers have been proven to be BS, i'd wager the EMEAA are as well.

and ps3 wii so close...guess that price effect is wearing off with wii being overtracked big time on this site so wouldn't be surprised if that's the same case in the EMEAA as well..shipment numbers and those very helpful data from ninty report will be interesting to say the least

also I think inFamous 2 is doing really well tbh...it just started to sell in Jp WITH it being available online also from the beginning ..and NPD shows we have it undertracked as well..

No I think waiting for shipping numbers is the right thing to do.

Consider this (seemingly) strange message from theSource:

"Michael Pachter did tell me in email however that much of the X360 year over year rise came from a) free X360s given away with Windows 7, and b) X360s sold directly to distributors (some of these units apparently ended up in Brazil) - and Microsoft convinced NPD to count both."

This b) is something that is bound to happen sooner or later. The continuous (and possibly accelerating) decline of the US$ against all other major currencies in the past weeks opens up new ways for foreign distributors to get their stock. It seems that (if this Pachter info is true), XBox SouthAmerican distributors did buy from XBox NA because it turned out to be cheaper for them than centralized buying. Whatever is going on (not likely that such shenanigans will be tolerated by MS for long), a sizable part of those 200'000 undertracked XBoxes might have to be considered fake sales (that look great on the XBox NA billboard, but will simply dispappear from the XBox WW billboard). Total work-wide numbers will somewhat solve that problem.

It is also clear that MS cannot continue to throw free XBoxes around like there is no tomorrow. More sooner than later, thia has a detrimental effect in the sales chain (no reseller likes it when the stuff s/he is trying to sell is given away for free in other places).

Yeah, I'm thinking inFamous 2 sales could be much higher than inFamous 1 for that reason.

God of War 3 FTW! Damn it sold over Reach and BO (360) this week. GT5 is okay but it's realsales come from Holiday seasons. But anyways the numbers are really off for Americas and I just can't imagine EMEAA numbers are even close for the matter. It seems like almost everything in this site is off. I can't even trust preorders anymore.
