hmm i wonder what games we will have at launch from Nintendo. I thought we would have a Mario launch game for the first time sense the N64

Pikmin 3 for sure. Probably New Super Mario Bros Mii or some kind of Wii Sports U.

NSMB would be a good, relatively low-tech way to demonstrate how the games could be easily translated to the screens, and that would be an interesting experiment in what kind of momentum a Nintendo console could accumulate if they started from a 2D Mario

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Wow why would Nintendo keep their own devs in the dark about the console, that's just Sparta!

Probably as a means to keep details of it from being leaked before Nintendo wants them to be ...

At this point in time Nintendo wants everyone to be focusing on the controller and getting curious about (and used to) the concept. While they can't fully prevent it from happening, they don't really want people to focus on the technical abilities of the console or the services that will be provided; and they may want people to fully digest the Wii U controller before they put it into the context of a broader strategy.

Hypothetically speaking, if it was leaked that the Wii U was 4 to 6 times the processing power of the HD consoles, the details of their online service were made public, or their unconventional market strategy was published that is all people would talk about.

Besides that, while I'm sure that Microsoft and Sony have sources that have given them a more complete picture of what the Wii U is than we currently know, any part of their strategy that they can keep from being made available to Microsoft and/or Sony until it is too late for them to respond to it is a huge benefit to Nintendo.

That's a good point if the devs knew to much, maybe they would've leaked a few things.

This is actually very bad news, I mean, these devs will only have 1 year to develop a game before Wii U launches. That will translate in tech demo-like games, very rushed and unpolished games or simply games not ready until 2014 or so. I doubt they can make large scale games in HD (which they never worked on before) in less than a year.

Koizumi is currently working on Super Mario 3D for the 3DS.  He wouldn't even be able to start a Wii U game until it's finished.  There's no reason for people to blow this out of proportion, it's non-news.

It never ceases to amaze me how good Nintendo is at keeping secrets. They're like the CIA of entertainment.

Keep telling that to yourself until you believe it, if it makes you feel any better...

I'm appalled that you can't see the connotation of this over the Wii U launch line up.

Proud poster of the 10000th reply at the Official Smash Bros Update Thread.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Not surprised by this news, Nintendo are the best when it comes to keeping it quiet.

Really?  Tell me O' Wise One how Koizumi's team is supposed to be working on Super Mario 3D while also at the same time a new Wii U Mario game that is  meant to be released at launch?  While I think it is a bit ridiculous that he wasn't aware of it, I don't think it's "very bad news".  I'm certainly not ready to jump off a bridge over it.

Wow thats kinda crazy, though developers seem to not keep their mouths shut lol.
