So if I want to buy the 12 + 3 months sub, i have to let my free month expire before it will let me 0_o.

I had my wallet out, put my card in ready to pay and Sony won't let me. Could well end up I don't bother now, stupid Sony.

You're doing something wrong.  Your 1 month free has no relevance whatsoever on whether or not you can sign up to the 12 + 3 months subscription.  I signed up to the Playstation Plus subscription while my 1 free month was going on, and had no issues whatsoever.

Well non of the options let me buy a longer sub, and when i checked the offial PS forums most people has the same problem and apparently you just can't extend it (with the 12 month + 3 free anyway_) until it expires :/.

I'll try again today...

No offense to the OP but the argument that you never actually own the "free" games is not ridiculus. As far as I see it your not getting any free games, your just renting them very cheaply. All the other features are very good value such as discounts and the like. My only concern would be if Sony ever decided to stop PSN+ (very unlikely in the near future) but would you then lose all of the supposedly free games.

Wow dude did his research though i still probably wont renew.

Personally that's a non-issue to me. I know that I likely won't touch a game again after I finished it and the very few games that are special to me I obviously buy anyway.

@Lafiel

Your right, thats what i would do as well, i just don't like it when companies try to pass off one thing as another. I know it's just a marketing ploy but some people may be put off by being (for want of a better word) "tricked" into thinking they are getting something free when they will lose access to the "free" items when they stop subscribing to the premium content.
Just for an example would be for a mobile phone operator to give you a free phone and then locking it so you couldn't use it anymore when you end your contract even if you go full term with it. I know thats a bad analogy but the basic idea is the same.

Off the free week I got it seems like a good deal. I just don't use my PS3 enough to get it though.

Just to reaffirm it, Baalzamon is exactly right, you can infinitely redownload the games for free any time you want (within your subscription) once you have dled them (or even just began the dl) once.

OK, but what if I DL something and my subscription expires, then I resubscribe?  Do I still get to download it again?

Also @ illuvatar:  I would expect them to do something to let subscribers keep all their stuff permanently if the subscription service ended.  Anything else would be cruel and frankly alienate their most loyal customers.  If I subscribe and that happens, I will be enraged.

@ PS+
2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character was awesome, thanks.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I'm pretty sure that's a yes. Afaik you can even still dl the stuff once your subscription ends, but when trying to start the game it will tell you that you can't without subscribing again.

no games are free because you pay your $50,£40 or whatever,

i enjoyed my free month of planeswalkers and burnout and bought DotP extra packs,Undersiege and might buy braid seeing as its £2 or whatever so they got a few extra pounds off me,PSN is alot more useful to PSN only people obviously so i liked it and put my saves on cloud,i doubt i'll get more because i am just not that rich and i'll buy individually what i want or pick up sales stuff as and when,

i wonder how many people will buy it after their free month, could be a few,i do think things like PSN is a big part of the gaming future though so they need to get it right and will need users on subscriptions, what i would subscribe for is mmo's you know you pay for psn and can play any mmo sony have going, bring on the fantasy worlds and sony can have my cash

Sure it's rental service but will you honestly want to play those small games in something like 10 years ?
