Forums - Nintendo - Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D allows only one save...EVER

I don't understand the big problem...Someone explain it to me.

Don't games always let you play it again without resetting anyway once you beat it? For example, like with Resident Evil 3...once you beat it, it says that you beat the game once but you can continue to play it without erasing anything correct?

The only issue I can see with this is that if your really stuck and it would be easier to just start over then to continue on...you wouldn't be able to start over until you beat it...but if you can't your screwed.(Running out of ammo for example)

This is Mercenaries though and not a story lined game...you just shoot the mess out of zombies to get high scores and play with people Online...so whats the problem?

So what will we do if we rent the game from Gamefly or something like that and have to return it?

The problem comes in when you have something like two siblings sharing the game (not uncommon), you want to rent the game, or you buy it used.  The game is made so only one save can ever exist and only that save can ever exist.  If you're playing with a brother or sister, you have to share the save and only one person ever gets to unlock a given thing.  If you're renting or buying used, then you should give up any hope at actually unlocking something.

Even playing online, you're at the mercy of whatever previous person already unlocked for you.  Hopefully they've gone down the same progression path you might have gone down, otherwise, you're stuck with powerups you don't care about.

Yeah, the siblings thing makes some since...I can see how that may get annoying. This is an "M" rated game though so I doubt 5 year old siblings would be sharing this game anyway.

Well...your 2nd point (Under-lined) only applies to people who buy the game used...which is the whole point of this one save per game thing anyway.

There are plenty of people who like to start games they like from scratch again, because part of the fun is a feeling of growth. Even a game like Mercenaries incorporates that with upgradeable weapons and abilities. What this news is about is that you will never ever be able to start from scratch again unless you buy a new copy of the game.

Beyond that, games should allow multiple save files, a game like this anyway.

I never buy my games used anyway...and I never rent them so that part doesn't bother me.

Your 2 points also won't bother me at all. Again, with a game like Mercenaries 3D I can't think of a reason I would want to restart anyway. It would be like restarting a game like Mario Party after unlocking all of the mini games LOL. I would never do that!

As far as the multiple save files...I can see that one a little bit better but it still doesn't effect me. I should be the only person really playing it a lot...my friends and familiy members might want to give it a try on my file or sometihng but they wouldn't want to unlock everything themselves.

I feel bad for the people this new thing does effect...but It shouldn't mess me up in any way.

It doesn't matter how big or how small people may think this is. This goes back to the other OS removed from PS3's, sure it's not a big deal but I paid for the f***ing thing !
When I pay for a product with my hard earned money, companies should have ZERO say it what I do with the product. If I want to throw it out the window and then piss on it, that's MY decision... I bought the damned thing.
If I want to sell it to a friend, or a store, or f***ing Aliens for that matter, I should be able to.

Go to hell Capcom

Wow, that's ridiculous. I hope this dissuades a lot of people.

Wow...It is kind of messed up when you put it that way LOL

I still think its a smart move from Capcom...even though I still feel bad for people.
