Forums - Sony - Sony needs to buy/start a RPG studio

In order of who?

Atlus
NIS
XSEED
Tri-Ace
FromSoftware

Really tho, perfect fit would be NIS. They already make great games for Sony, they are FANTASTIC at localizing their games and they are pretty quick in bringing games out. Just think what they could do with some more money and backing?

NIS is my favourite studio they really seem to have a good relationship with Sony. if i was sony and got some cash i would buy NIS. but if i wanted the best developers then i will have to buy

Atlus, Konami, LEVEL-5, Marvelous, NIhon Falcom, CyberConnect2, D3, FromSoftware, Spike, GUST, Ignition, Tri-Ace, Yuke's and IREM.

Sony will be next Square Enix CONFIRMED!

NIS and Atlus are publisher, buying them is not the same as a developer. XSeed dosn't even develop games! All they do is localise game for western release. Only Tri-ace and FromSoftware are realistic target out of that list.

I thought they say, they are making money off of Vita day 1?

Atlus Developed games: http://games.ign.com/objects/025/025011.html#Developer

Probably the best part for Atlus is Sony globalization.  Right now they do not have ANY publishing presence in Europe.  Sony would give them that + get a great DEVELOPMENT studio with a PUBLISHING arm that knows how to localize niche products to make a profit.

NIS Developed games: http://games.ign.com/objects/027/027126.html#Developer

Xseed should have been Media Vision (was thinking Wild Arms)

Wild Arms is seen as a Playstation RPG already.

Even though Atlus and NIS are more on the niche side, they are fantastic localization wizards.  I cannot even think of an Atlus game that had poor localization (and Perona 3/4 were fantastic)  and NIS has done wonderfully with Disgaea.  Hell, with NIS now joining the Anime frey, the company would give Sony another new avenue to explore.

Well, Sony used to be the haven for console rpgs and it has lost some of his thunder.
Demon Souls and Valkyria Chronicles have been among the best rpg experiences I had this gen (along with The Witcher and Bioware games) and both have been PS3 exclusives. Too bad their sequels haven't.

That's not what I mean. What I'm saying is that both NIS and Atlus are pulisher as well as developer, they both have their own global disbribution network. You are not just buying a single studio with its asset, their scope is far more larger and the scenario would be more like Squre-Enix's purchasing Eidos. A single studio is feasible (although very unlikely) for Sony, buying Atlus / NIS is not.

Re-open Working Design and have them localise unreleased jRPG through remastered collection on PS3/Vita.

OMG .. STOP CAPITALIZING THE T in tri-ACE .. only the A is capitalized.
