Forums - Gaming - Has Sony been left in the last generation?

Step 1: Make logical argument why Wii is the most next gen of the consoles

Step 2: Let Oppossing minds scramble to come up with excuses to the contrary.

Step 3: Mix, and you have this thread.

@FinalSqual

So few words just to say you don't have the courage to counter a single thing I've said. Instead you make a brief and evasive diversion to the semantics of what "Next Gen" is.

Your problem is not that you're a Sony gamer FinalSqual, it's that you seem to be only a Cheerleader when it comes to debate. You're not a debater. You're not a constructive contributer. The bulk of your contributions on this site have been time and time again little more than you tripping over your shoe laces to try and dismiss any criticism Sony faces. While I'm sure you would like to say the same of myself as a Nintendo cheerleader I have actually made sound/constructive arguments (whether others are willing to admit it or not), my only problem is the delivery of those arguments, I get under people's skin, I'm tactless and annoying, but by god I can put two and two together no matter how elegantly or roughly it's scribbled down on the napkin.

FinalSqual, you have a long way to go before you will ever be able to make a counter argument like that stick.

man that robot! y did they put him in mario kart DS, he is so out of place! sonic and mario i understand them going together and all the characters in SSB but that robot!!! Nintendo must want his memory to live on a little stronger then in just nostalgia ROB was prolly like todays robosapien and roboraptor

Erm, wasnt ROB also a non-playable character in the Star Fox series...

Sort of.  The pilot of the Great Fox is a robot named ROB, but he looks and acts nothing like this R.O.B.

It ain't over till the fat lady sings, and she's not even in the building yet.

It is still early in this generation but I feel that it is good for a true gaming company to be a success.
This is Nintendo's first BC console ever,an idea from Sony, thank you very much. With all the money Nintendo is making now, by the time HD is mainstream they will have a console to match.

I am only saddened by the fact that Sega doesn't have the money to support a console of their own. They are only a shadow of themselves compared to when they were a hardware manufacturer, glad for Nintendo though.

No. GBA was compatible with GBC games.

What does next-gen mean? Does it mean most revolutionary? most different? does it mean better gameplay? bettter graphics?

Generations are just hardware release cycles, really. I guess you could argue that Wii and PS3 are each more 'next-gen' than X360, since they were released later. :P

That's the literal meaning, but when people say that "you can tell this is a next gen gam" what do they really mean. Do they simply mean that it looks as though it was developed on next gen hardware, or it plays much better than older games?

support for up to 7 controllers at once

This makes me giggle to no end. Leo, I hope you own seven controllers. Do you want to know why? Because that is the technical limitation of Bluetooth enabled devices at once. You can't have more than seven. And you would be classified by the absolute definition of being a moron for buying that many controllers.

Let me tell you a little secret: The Wii also uses Bluetooth. It would take all of one firmware update to let seven people play with the Wiimote at once. But NO! That's Sony's technology, right?

Here's the problem. No one will program a game for seven people. It makes no sense. It doesn't split a screen well nor does it allow for acceptable gameplay in a one screen environment. There will be nothing more than four players on one screen; it just fits too well.

I know you're young but here's a tip: stop buying into Sony bullshit. Use your head. Think about things and then research them. It only takes a few minutes. Instead of reading a Sony blog, go to http://arstechnica.com or http://www.tomshardware.com and read them for a few months. There are plenty of other sites that do the same. You'll actually learn instead of being called out for being ignorant on forums like these.

And here we pass from the realm of the objective to the realm of the subjective.

It's true, much like the term 'hardcore,' 'next-gen' means whatever the hell it means to the person who uses it. And they will use it to serve their purposes and probably not bother to clarify their meaning.

Really, they shouldn't use the term 'next-gen' at all if they're talking about gameplay or graphics. That's why we have the terms 'gameplay' and 'graphics.' Duh.

And I get the feeling that's what you're really trying to say. ;)
