Quite diverse then.

Not surprised that they are almost all on either the DS or PSP but I never would have thought that even after removing Pokemon, FF and DQ off the JRPG lists, that Mega Man Star Force would be in the top ten, let alone place higher then ANY Tales of game nor a SMT game.

I get that it had three versions but come on that is still just crazy.

I would count Monster Hunter as JRPG, really.

I would also say Pokemon isn't an RPG, but actually a pet simulator in the same genre as Nintendogs.

Anyway. DS Domination here.

Pokemon might not be a typical JRPG, but it is an RPG.

however i've always wondered if its fair to compare Pokemon White/Black as the same game.

its the same game, but not everyone will by both versions. so is it fair to compare both versions as 1 game.

either way, its obvious the big loser this gen has been the FF series, with 5 years spent developing a game that couldnt make it into the top 5!

awwww, damn tales.

Wow DS!! What a beast it is..

And just looking at the Pokemon on the list i'd bet when the 3DS gets its pokemon game then 3DS will explode again. Even Mystery Dungeon sold 1.5 million!!

while I agree with the first statement, I dont agree at all with the pokemon one, I dont know if you were just kidding, but pokemon is clearly an rpg game, as rpg as dragonquest, final fantasy, persona, goldensun and such...

Menx64

3DS code: 1289-8222-7215

NNid: Menx064

lol at Pokemon not being an RPG.

Total handheld dominance, it will be interesting to see if Vita can make this shift to handhelds possible in the West.

pwin´ every other villain since 1994

I can see why some people don't consider games like Super Paper Mario RPGs, but Pokemon, really?  Pokemon has random encounters, dungeons, leveling up, turn based battles, Nintendogs has none.  To even doubt Pokemon's credentials at being an RPG is ludicrous.  Just out of interest Carl, do you consider the DQ games that involving recruiting monsters pet simulators as well?  What are your personal determinants of what is an RPG?  Because Pokemon easily meets all of mine.

Calling pokemon a pet simulator is like calling FFVIII a card game because of triple triad.
