Well, not a direct prequel (chronologically pre-OoT post-Minish Cap in the Unified timeline, whereas TP sits between Majora's Mask and LttP in the Child Line), but one at least that does explain many of the elements found in TP

The Iron Knuckle is only tough to fight before you knock that first bit of armor off, as after that it flinches to your jump attacks even as a kid.

I get the impression this comes before Minish Cap in that this game seems to predate the existence of the Royal Family as we know it.

I love the redesigned dungeons in Master Quest. I just made it to the Forest Temple. So far it hasn't been too difficult. With 3 hearts and no shield Stalfos are so annoying. Damn one-hit kills. =P

I just picked up the original Legend of Zelda at the flea market Sunday. I've beaten the first 3 dungeons and gotten the 2nd sword but now I'm completely lost...

Also picked up Oracle of Seasons. I'll get on that once I clear up one of the other Zelda.

But Minish Cap is the one that established Link's uniform, correct? (the eponymous cap being the "reason" for his pointed green hat on down the timeline). I never played Minish Cap, however, so i only know of its positioning based on a few prominent "timeline theory" videos, and don't know if Zelda or the royal family was in there or not...

As for the topic at hand, i spent today on childhood subquests, which really just meant finally cashing in my Gold Skultulas to get the Giant's Wallet, then picked up three of the gimme heart pieces (lost dog of castle town, the urn in Goron City, and the Skull Kid), then spent most of my time fishing for the 4th piece (though the 4th was a bonus piece, so that i only have to do 3 easy ones tomorrow and can spend most of my time in the Gerudo Training Ground)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It did, but Ocarina of Time did that before Minish Cap did, so the uniform isn't really much here.

Got up to Jabu Jabu, but got four heart pieces first - Lon Lon Ranch, Zora's Domain torches, caught a 10-pounder fish, and used a chicken to grab a heart piece on the Zora River. I may have gotten a fifth. Let me check.

I did! Where.... where the Hell is this one from. Hrm.

The Minish Cap's origin story is more symbolic than anything - aside from the fact that Link does get his cap, there is nothing that would indicate that it is the first of anything but the games of the Four Sword continuity (the Royal Family do feature, for the record). It's an awesome game - my favorite amongst the 2D Zeldas - and it introduced many of the concepts used by latter titles, but I don't it features actively into the Ocarina continuity.

Just finished Link's Awakening. I'm impressed. Tezuka always manages to bring some kind of meta-commentary into his games - in this case, the game is a dream (or fiction), but as the Wind Fish says, isn't the memory of it the real dream? It manages to equate the player with Link in a way no other Zelda has.

Now I'm pondering the meaning of the labyrinth within the egg. Is it a representation of the dark, maze-like recesses of our minds? Or a metaphor for the paralyzing fear brought on by the Nightmares? The solution to the enigma is found in a book you can't normally read - a supressed memory? It's amazing how rich and open to interpretation the setting really makes it.

I've forgotten to update for a while.

I've decided to replay Twilight Princess, I've just dispelled the Twilight in Kakariko Village. I had completely forgotten how much I love this game.

Bah. Was it absolutely necessary to have that cutscene of Kotake and Koume arguing with each other included in the Boss Attack mode? >_>

Speaking of the Boss Attack mode, did anybody else try it yet? Just on the off chance that anyone's interested, here are my records: (Only tried once so far, so they shouldn't be too hard to beat.)

Gohma - 00:24.96

King Dodongo - 00:41.73

Barinade - 01:33.13

Phantom Ganon - 01:31.43

Volvagia - 00:44.20

Morpha - 01:34.26

Bongo Bongo - 00:45.96

Twinrova - 03:11.33

The Gauntlet - 12:07.06 (Yeah, pretty pathetic.)

Started my efforts with OoT (GC disc)

Unfortunately my TV doesn't seem to support 60Hz mode properly, so about 5% of the bottom of the picture is cut off I can't see how many rupees I am carrying (just see the top of the numbers, so if I look carefully I can tell when they go green for a full wallet)

Anyhow, gone through and just entered Jabu Jabu.
Only picked up 2 extra heart pieces so far (one on Zora river using a cuckoo and the other the chest under the Zora waterfall)
I also got the extra bottle from Lon Lon ranch (finding super cuckoos) and the extra bottle from returning the cuckoos in Kakariko (so with the required 'message in a bottle' I have 3 already, dunno if I'll bother getting the big poes for the 4th)
Other stuff I did that isn't required is got Saria's song*, Epona's song and the Sun song. And visited the first great fairy (atop Death mountain)

Currently have 9 skultula.

One thing I don't remember, I thought the Deku Tree closed up after you beat Gohma, so I was making sure I got the skultula in there until I found there was a wall that needs bombing. Does it close up in Master Quest or have I just imagined this?

Edit *Wait, Saria's song is required isn't it, specifically for one of the best bits of the game, Dancing Darunia

Meh,I'm just gonna play OoT and Majora's Mask.

Barinade is extra groady in the 3DS version.

The whole of Jabu Jabu is, really.
