Started my efforts with OoT (GC disc)
Unfortunately my TV doesn't seem to support 60Hz mode properly, so about 5% of the bottom of the picture is cut off 
I can't see how many rupees I am carrying (just see the top of the numbers, so if I look carefully I can tell when they go green for a full wallet)
Anyhow, gone through and just entered Jabu Jabu.
Only picked up 2 extra heart pieces so far (one on Zora river using a cuckoo and the other the chest under the Zora waterfall)
I also got the extra bottle from Lon Lon ranch (finding super cuckoos) and the extra bottle from returning the cuckoos in Kakariko (so with the required 'message in a bottle' I have 3 already, dunno if I'll bother getting the big poes for the 4th)
Other stuff I did that isn't required is got Saria's song*, Epona's song and the Sun song. And visited the first great fairy (atop Death mountain)
Currently have 9 skultula.
One thing I don't remember, I thought the Deku Tree closed up after you beat Gohma, so I was making sure I got the skultula in there until I found there was a wall that needs bombing. Does it close up in Master Quest or have I just imagined this?
Edit *Wait, Saria's song is required isn't it, specifically for one of the best bits of the game, Dancing Darunia
