I wish they would just create a GUI interface using Visual Basic and track the IPs of these bastards.

But wait! That's actually possible!

Oh stupid television, where would we be without you?

The sad thing is that people don't know how stupid that is.

My parents and my wife's parents both think that stuff is highly technical and real.  Hell, we were on vacation and they tried to take a family picture with an iPhone.  I saw the mother-in-law taking like 20 pictures one after the other.  I finally asked her what she was doing and she said she took so many pictures so the iPhone could just switch out the heads like they do in the commercial.

I just couldn't help from laughing.

Trade secrets are not prtected by law at all. If someone figures them out, tough luck. They can only be liable if the person who reveals them is an employee (and I am not sure a janitor type employee either).

I don't see what your tryng to get at here....

Attach rates are relative...

however in systems where piracy would have a negative effect.... you would in fact expect the attach rate to be lower.

Not one of the highest ever...

It's pretty obvious you are NOT going to.

Well it's kinda hard when your only posted vague pointless things and refuse to defend the fact that your entire thesis is wrong.

For the record... the highest attach rate during the PS2 era was... the PS2.

I'm so over hackers...............

God that's fine if you've got beef with Sony but take it out on them, all these attacks are hurting us as consumers.  Why can't we just play our games in peace.

Apparantly sony does, how much have these "basement" dwellers cost sony? How great does sony look in the light of these hacks to general public? Pretty badly if you ask me, kind of sad. You would think a suit and tie company funded by millions(maybe more) would be able to stop that guy  in his basement with apparently no job.

Why can't some people just use their ps3 as they please? Why must sony go on a rampage and take people to court? They just want to use their equiptement as they please, I mean they did buy it.

Yeap, enjoy it now when its on a gaming forum against a company you dont like because whether you like it or not, these companies viablilty in the real world mean a lot more than people here so cavalierly ignore. The only thing thats going to come of this is increased consumer costs to maintain protection and probably stricter laws and limited consumer rights and or functionality. So get all your laughs in now because if this keeps up and/or spreads and companies post losses because of this real families who get let go will suffer.

Its fun to hate the big bad corperation until you grow up and realize that your neighbor gets a paycheck from a Sony distrubutor and hes the one who suffers, not "Sony"

They took one person to court for releasing their trade secrets to the whole world, which could have financially devastating effects on their business.  It's not crazy, absurd or in any way outlandish.  It's smart business by Sony as they have plenty of attorneys sitting around on payroll.

They didn't hurt this poor wittle guy.  They got him away from their products (And he signed off on it).

No comapany is too big to fail. Some other company with more respect for consumers will take its place. Maybe nintendo will get even more marketchare and all the ex sony employees can go work their. Sorry I dont feel like handing over my rights to a corporation or a government. I dont hate sony at all, I hate their actions they still have a choice to change those actions. If not they will lie in the bed they made for themselves. I am not pro hacking into the PSN either. I dont think I said that. They are both in the wrong here. I am pro hacking your own equiptment though, even though I do not personaly do it. But again I never said hacking the PSn is the right thing to do. Its just so many sony fans can't seem to seperate some things and want to label all hackers as loosers/basement dwellers/law breakers when in reality there are many types of hackers of which only some break actual laws. Sony going after the non law breakers was a bad idea. Sony fans supporting that just makes them llook like they dont understand the issue or are fine with giving international corporations more power than individual citizens of a nation.

They didn't hurt this poor wittle guy.  They got him away from their products (And he signed off on it).

They tried to flex their monetary might in the face of consumer rights and failed. He can still use their products by the way. He also had nothing do with piracy or with releasing sony trade secretys, noth of which are criminaly illegal. The case sony brought was not a criminal case but a civil suit, very different. If sony cared about piracy they would go after pirates not someone completely unrelated to it.

Smart business would have been to keep otherOS and not have it gimped by by not letting people have access to all the hardwware they bought. Than the only hacks that could happen would be illegal ones that imvlolved breaching the PSN wich consumers do not own, or piracy wich is illegal. Instead sony went the other root and tried to close out their sytem and force ordinary consumers to hack their own equiptemnt if they want to use for other purposes besides ps3 gaming.
