you said rose was clearly the best player in the league this year.. when he wasn't clearly the best player in the league..

not whether or not he was the most valuable player of the league, you were responding to what I had said, yes his value to chicago was greatest, but his value to the league was not when there were 8 other players that had a better season than he did..

You cannot judge a player across the entire league.  There is about a million other aspects that come into play.  Talent surrounding the said player,  the caliber of the team played on.   You could say that Lebron or Wade or Kobe on the Bulls would make them just as good, but you can't prove it regardless.

What we can prove is that Derrick Rose was the most valuable player to his team this season and in around about way the best player in the league for his respective team.

Wade didn't win mvp because lebron was the favorite along with kobe and even carmelo when they entered the league.. wade taking the heat over the mavericks in 2006 by himself(with a weak shaq) and he only won finals mvp.. not league.. considering he was literally doing things only jordan had ever done on an nba nasketball court..

Oh my lord.  You're just a Heat-fanboy no wonder.   Titles Wade has won with Shaq - 1  .   Titles Wade has won without Shaq - 0.   Again, it was arguable if Wade was the best player on the Heat in 06,  let alone the NBA.   Lebron on the flipside took a non-playoff team and made them playoff contenders immediately.

and in 08 although his team only made the first round of the play offs, he wasn't even a big contendor for mvp despite clearly taking every heat team after 2007 into the nba play offs all by himself.. literally with rosters that make cleveland's current roster look like an all star assemble..

Lebron was/is and has been a better player than Wade.  Period.  End of discussion.  Wade is great but Lebron is better.  That is why Wade doesn't earn MVP because he isn't as good as Lebron or Kobe.   Wade can't do it unless his team is covered with superstars.

Rose has become the favorite after lebron became hated by the cleveland fans and then eventually the media.. rose being in chicago, and doing all star plays at times even jaw dropping plays only comparable to things lebron, wade, or kobe, or iverson,  had done in their careers automatically makes him the favorite..

Rose has led the Bulls to great heights almost all by himself with a great leadership mentality.

want to know how biased the media/nba is?

ROSE and kobe made it to the nba all nba first team

Wade didn't.. neither did Dirk who is one of if not the best PF in this league at the moment

Wade isn't as good as either of those two.  I hate to break it to you.  Dirk might true reason to gripe though.

no one here is comparing anyone to jordan either.. it's ok if jordan won a championship in 1991, but when he came back to the bulls later on in his career he won a couple of championships with pippen.. a hall of famer..

Huh?  Jordan won in 91/92/93  and then 96/97/98.   Pippin wasn't immediately a Hall of Famer, nor was he good enough to win any titles alone.  It took him time to develop his skills and become a better player (With the aid of Jordan).  I'm so sick of this argument,  It just goes to show how much of a gutless, weak decision Lebron made.  The Cavaliers were competitive year after year during Lebron's tenure.  Constantly spending more and putting more, better players on the roster.

lebron left because the cavs weren't giving him the tools necessary for a championship(in your opinion delonte and mo is a roster, that isn't a roster, lebron was the only all star on that team, you expected him to beat rondo, garnett, allen, and pierce..

You can't just acquire a roster.  Stop being simple-minded or Madden-esque with this.  Miami just dumped all of their players and sucked year after year until they were on the verge of losing Wade as well.  It takes time, the NBA draft, Free Agency, etc.   The Cavaliers didn't do anything that Lebron didn't want.  They tried to bring in any player they could to help that team win.

As I said, Jordan didn't run to the Pistons when he couldn't beat them.  Or run to Los Angeles,  or Boston so he could be with 'other' All-Stars.  He practiced and worked harder with his teammates to get better and improve.  He didn't throw them under the bus or imply that he was the King and the only viable player.

the celtics are the reason he even joined wade and bosh.. they blew out miami and cleveland and lebron has never beaten the celtics in a series, neither has wade)

Winning easier and sooner is the reason he joined Wade and Bosh. The Celtics were having a down season this year, they would have been dethroned by a strong Lebron led Cavaliers team this season, or a strong Bulls or Heat.   The Celtics are old and look over the hill at this point (Just like what happened to the Celtics, Lakers and Pistons teams that Jordan ended up facing.)

he did make it to the finals but failed against the spurs.. after that he never got that far into the play offs.. the fact the miami oppurtonity came up, is why he left cleveland, he said so himself..

We know he said so himself.  He planned it years prior at the Olympics.

he would have never been able to play with wade if he hadn't signed with miami.. chicago maybe, but he didn't want to follow jordan's legacy completely, he wanted a legacy for himself, same with d wade.. who is now hated in chicago for absolutely no reason.. what lebron did was legal in the nba, sure he broadcasted on live tv, but hey no one hated him when he announced he would..  only when he said "south beach"..

Had Lebron given the Cavaliers a firm committment earlier in his career, they would have been able to do a lot more.  Bosh could have come to Cleveland and played with Lebron.   Adding Bosh to Cleveland would have made a very strong roster.

Lebron doesn't and won't have a legacy when it's all said and done.  He can't touch Jordan (That ship has already sailed).  The best he can hope for is being a Kevin Garnett type of legacy.

Had Lebron stayed in Cleveland, convinced Bosh to come or brought Championships to Cleveland, he would have had a case to make.  Since he didn't,  he showed that he isn't a once in a lifetime type of player but more of just a solid role player (Like Scottie Pippen).

MJ vs. Kobe would be a far more interesting comparison. Until LeBron wins some championships and proves that he can take a game over in the 4th quarter on a consistent basis, there's not much to discuss here.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Bosh wasn't interested in lebron to begin with.. he wanted to play with wade..

you say kobe right now is a better player than wade.. that's just nuts.. wade is prob the 2nd best player in the league.. and statisticly he was well ahead of kobe this season in nearly everything..

lebron will have a legacy, don't even say he wont, he already has won, he may be hated right now, but once/if he wins a championship everyone will ride him again.. especially the media..

and the jordan ship hasn't sailed, lebron is 26, he isn't 29 like wade, wade's ship may have fled, but lebron still has the potential to grow as a player.. the fact he has mvp like stats this year with wade just shows how good he's become..

and lebron will never be a role player.. maybe at the end of his career like shaq was kind of.. but lebron is no role player, pippen does not compare to lebron.. why don't you go and call garnett and allen role players and hate on them.. they did the exact same thing lebron did, and they're praised constantly.. lebron just left cleveland and announced he did.. had he not announce it on tv, he probably would have still gotten hate for going to miami.. and the party was out of excitement, and the heat didn't really have much to do with it.. the city, the mayor, everyone in miami that were fans of the nba made that party for them.. and in a matter of hours the arena was full, it was a free party to see lebron in heat uniform along with bosh and wade..

now the "we're ganna win not 1  not 2 not 3 not 4 not 5 not 6 not 7 not 8 championships but more) was cocky and unneccessary, but everyone says that when they enter a new team.. "we're ganna bring a championship to X city", but yes it was cocky to say what he did, but people believed it, since he had wade, in his team.. the closest thing to jordan other than lebron and maybe kobe 2 years ago, at the time

neither wade or lebron are "pippens" or "role players" they're both the stars of the team.. bosh as well.. role players are haslem and miller..

Oh gawd. Here we go.

Ha! Lebron should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as MJ! Jordan didn't have to team up with Magic Johnson and Larry Bird to get his titles, which by the way Lebron still doesn't have. And even when he does, it won't mean the same as if he stayed in Cleveland.

This video says it all:

According to the Miami Heat fan.  I'll assume there is some bias.   You say Cleveland had scrubs around Lebron...Yet they were consistently deep in the playoffs and a top regular season team.

Wade had the Heat....where again?

lebron will have a legacy, don't even say he wont, he already has won, he may be hated right now, but once/if he wins a championship everyone will ride him again.. especially the media..

What legacy?  A legacy where he wasn't good enough or patient enough or a big enough leader to further aid and develop his teammates and himself to build a dynasty?   He will be looked at as a mercenary who had so much potential and couldn't achieve enough.

and the jordan ship hasn't sailed, lebron is 26, he isn't 29 like wade, wade's ship may have fled, but lebron still has the potential to grow as a player.. the fact he has mvp like stats this year with wade just shows how good he's become..

Lebron is a good player,  so was Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Dominique Wilkins (Who Lebron really reminds you of).  Jordan he will never become.  Sorry.

and lebron will never be a role player.. maybe at the end of his career like shaq was kind of.. but lebron is no role player, pippen does not compare to lebron.. why don't you go and call garnett and allen role players and hate on them.. they did the exact same thing lebron did, and they're praised constantly..

Garnett and Allen never had 1/100th the clout and league wide admiration and fan admiration that Lebron James did.   They weren't close to as big of a player as him.  Which again makes it more pathetic.

lebron just left cleveland and announced he did.. had he not announce it on tv, he probably would have still gotten hate for going to miami.. and the party was out of excitement, and the heat didn't really have much to do with it.. the city, the mayor, everyone in miami that were fans of the nba made that party for them.. and in a matter of hours the arena was full, it was a free party to see lebron in heat uniform along with bosh and wade..

Lebron held a several month countdown to his free agency,  gave no firm answers or commitment to anybody, made teams put on shows for him to 'convince' him of where the King should go next.  He made everyone 'travel to him'.    He held an hour long televised special to announce one sentence.  No player in any sport, regardless of their ego has ever done such a thing.  Ever.

No one cares that he left Cleveland, or that Miami is happy they got him. It was the selfish, egotistical, self-absorbed manner in which he left.  That no player has done before him.

now the "we're ganna win not 1  not 2 not 3 not 4 not 5 not 6 not 7 not 8 championships but more) was cocky and unneccessary, but everyone says that when they enter a new team.. Wade can't touch Jordan either.  Give me a break.  They aren't even comparable.  Jordan won 3 Championships in a row.  Retired. Then Won 3 more.

neither wade or lebron are "pippens" or "role players" they're both the stars of the team.. bosh as well.. role players are haslem and miller..

Lebron and Wade have resigned themselves to being Role players on that team.  They will never be Jordan or Magic or Bird.  They will be Pippens.  Hall of Famers but not legends.

he made up teams to put on a show for him.. and made people travel to him? Are you serious.. you realize every big name in the free agency was INVITED by the teams interested in them for a demonstration of the team's organization..

Nearly every city that could afford lebron wanted him, and they did not go to him, lebron went to them, they invited him, he could have said no, and he doesn't go to the demonstration.. this was fact, wade, bosh, amari, and many other free agents went through that same process..

and what if lebron wins 5 or 6 rings by the end of his career.. he wont be on jordan's league? Really? Considering YOU and probably half the entire nba base were probably touting him as the greatest thing on earth before he went to miami.. that's hypocriticle.. jordan said, he wouldn't have played with bird or magic on the same team, but times are different, he may have handled that decision differently than how it was in the 90s..

and you keep saying lebron and wade are role players.. do you know what a role player is..

ALLEN is not a role player

GARNETT is not a role player

PIERCE is definately not a role player..

what makes lebron or wade role players now.. when the team revolves around them.. they don't play a role in someone elses game..

role players are jermaine, shaq, maybe delonte on the celtics team, and the heat's role players are haslem, miller, maybe bibby, and maybe chalmers..

Well one other reason why he did what he did, was because he realized the amount of money he would have made doing "THE DECISION" on national tv.. he used his fame.. for what? Charity.. That is no excuse for what he did afterwards.. but no one was talking shit about lebron the day before he said south beach..

No one said Wade was jordan, but WADE LAST YEAR along with LEBRON were the CLOSEST THINGS to jordan.. key words.. "CLOSEST THINGS"

and pippen is a legend in the eyes of everyone.. that's the point of being a hall of famer..

and wade had no one 2008 and onward.. it's like playing the current heat bench with wade on the field.. you'd think they'd get into the ECF.. over the celtics..

lebron already has a legacy.. that is a fact.. he's a two time mvp.. he's an all star mvp.. he hass been in the all star team 7 straight times.. his stats/growth are uncomparable to anyone currently playing in the league.. he won the EC championship once maybe twice soon,  there's no way he wont be remembered.. just how charles has a legacy.. or wilins does.. lebron does.. but lebron is a much better player than both of those players..

Teams were invited by Lebron to come to his downtown Cleveland location.  Teams WENT to Lebron to make their proposals.  No other athlete has done this.   Lebron was too good to go elsewhere, people were coming to see 'The King'.

Lebron won't win 5 or 6 rings by the end of his career.  Sorry to burst your bubble and if he does it certainly won't be with one team.   It will be as a mercenary who can't build his own legacy but has to attach his name to others.

I never tout any athlete as the greatest thing on Earth.  Before he left Cleveland, I thought he atleast had that defining Championship, Competitive quality.  After his display of immaturity and story after story coming out about him,  you realize he didn't have it at all and he probably never will or won't till way later in his career.

and you keep saying lebron and wade are role players.. do you know what a role player is..

Yes.  I know very well what a role player is.  A player who is incapable of doing something on his own or place the team on his back.  Lebron has proven that all he WANTS to be is a Role player.  He wants to be Scottie Pippen, Not Michael Jordan because he can't handle the burden of winning AND losing.

what makes lebron or wade role players now.. when the team revolves around them.. they don't play a role in someone elses game..

The same reason why Scottie Pippen was a role player.  Scottie Pippen could occassionally take over a game by himself essentially and carry the team on his back, but not regularly.  Not often.   Jordan was the guy that they could count on most of the time.

Lebron Wade and Bosh are all in the same boat.  They all are role players for each other.  Very good role players, but role players none the less.

role players are jermaine, shaq, maybe delonte on the celtics team, and the heat's role players are haslem, miller, maybe bibby, and maybe chalmers..

I don't need you to define role players for me.  By what Lebron, Wade and Bosh did...Proved that they are nothing more than role players.

Well one other reason why he did what he did, was because he realized the amount of money he would have made doing "THE DECISION" on national tv.. he used his fame.. for what? Charity.. That is no excuse for what he did afterwards.. but no one was talking shit about lebron the day before he said south beach..

Charity was a shallow excuseHe could have donated his money off a fresh new contract to charity as well.  It was self serving and typical behavior from an ego-maniac.

and pippen is a legend in the eyes of everyone.. that's the point of being a hall of famer..

He isn't a legend, he is a great player who played his role alongside the Legendary Michael Jordan.

and wade had no one 2008 and onward.. it's like playing the current heat bench with wade on the field.. you'd think they'd get into the ECF.. over the celtics..

Lebron had no one according to you and he made deep playoffs every year practically.

lebron already has a legacy.. that is a fact.. he's a two time mvp.. he's an all star mvp.. he hass been in the all star team 7 straight times.. his stats/growth are uncomparable to anyone currently playing in the league.. he won the EC championship once maybe twice soon,  there's no way he wont be remembered..

He will be remembered just like the guys I just listed were remembered.  He doesn't have a legendary legacy though and he never will touch someone like Michael Jordan.

I think that it's unfair to compare anyone to Jordan.

He really is that much better than anyone who ever played.

Not according to Scottie Pippen!
