Forums - Gaming - Fox News on Federal Funding for Games

I'm not for the government funding any industry in any way, but if the government was serious about developing an educational game industry it would make more sense to free up the money wasted in the educational system so that schools had the resources to buy equipment; which would probably include computers and educational games.

Well fair argument, well US need to really up there game on federal funding for the video game industry because US used to be an power house recruiting 10-100 thousand people even more in the games industry and now they are losing lots of jobs and money though taxes to canada whos government sees the gaming industry and an industry to tap into and is giving 37% tax break, now there is heaps and heaps of studios and once they build there big studios there all the major publishers aren't going to pack up an leave when the tax break finishes because they have just spent alot of money on these new studios.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

The bald guy is full of strawmen and red herrings it's hilarious.  He doesn't respond to points or questions, he just spouts some 'catchphrase' with a random hyperbole number with an emotional/relatable hook that idiots will fall for.  Call of Duty and SMB1 aren't the type of thing that would get funding.  Dumbest thing I've viewed today.

exactly, why dont these games not get finding while others do.

also sense the video hasnt worked for me, how do you know what types of games will get funding?

edit: video finally works. any game that is deemed art will get funding. so if call of duty is considered art it will get funding, and whos to say games like that arent art while others are. no art should get funded by federal government

you missed the guy's point badly.

(SeriousWB i mean)

know i understood what he was saying, but i was turning what he was trying to prove as a good thing, as a bad thing.

im saying just because funding is suppossed to go to "art-full indie" games doesnt mean its good

theres a difference between letting companies keep their own money, and giving them other peoples money

It's amazing what qualifies as a news show across the pond.

Didn't the Sun make an article about how the 3DS caused blindness?

Lol, was about to say the same thing.  I'm all for tax breaks, but to actually hand out tax payer money to developers is going too far.  Like you said before, if there is demand for it, then it will be made through the private sector.  And what happens when these games don't sell?  The answer is the government will just keep shoving our money down a big hole, all the while screaming about how its for education and the children.

They're right for the wrong reasons, if that makes sense.

When I watch Fox News. I have the urge to punch someone. So, for the sake of someone getting hurt, I'd rather not watch.
