The US federal government has no money. In has much less than no money as it is in the hole by trillions of dollars and gets over a trillion more in the whole every year. The majority of the US federal budget is waste and misuse of government. All government funding of arts programs has to be cut right now. There is no other option. Either destroy the US by doing things like this or try to save the US by cutting funding in half.
Frankly, the person at the NEA that thought funding videogames made sense needs to be fired because they clearly have zero understanding of reality.
That guy trying to defend this was just trying to get on TV, something he clearly isn't meant to be on with his speaking abilities.

good job. i find it shocking that most people dont realize how dire the US financial debt crisis is. its like they dont care, that we wont have a country in 50 years
|
I find it shocking that people think cutting a program that is 0.0001% of our federal budget is going to help us get out of debt.
|
every bit adds up. who's saying we should only cut this?
thats what got us into this mess, people saying, oh its only several million, dont worry our debt is 14 trillion, thats nothing, people wont even notice. we have to cut everything
|
Actually no we dont have to cut everything, we need to get rid of the Bush Tax cuts, get rid of tax cuts for multi billion dollar corporations, and cut military spending. That would put us back to having a surplus like we had in the 90s. But the worst thing to do in a recession is cut spending, it just widens the hole.
|
we all saw how the massive amounts of spending by the gov has gotten us out of this mess....oh wait it didn't. The worst thing to do in a recession is to take money out of those that create more wealth through high taxes. We are seeing the results of this now.
|
It DOES NOT help a recession if you take fund away from where they cycle through the economy, to then put it in hands of individuals who will hoard it, put it paper assets to buy derivatives, or ship the money to fund economic development in China or India. What we see now is that the Bush tax cuts failed to maintain economic growth, and giving a ton of money to the top X% to play games with credit default swaps and other paper assets does nothing to sustain the economy. If the "wealth" created are paper derivatives, this is USELESS for the economy. You can grow an economy playing around with paper products that are ideally meant to be in the margin, and used to hedge against negative potential outcomes to prevent getting wiped out, and also used to provide stability in prices so those who produce can predict future production needs. Throw a lot of instability in the mix, and decide your way to maximize profits is to ship jobs overseas and explain how that is supposed to fix the economy. How does reducing tax rates to 0% when a nation lays in shambles via a race to the bottom going to fix any deficit at all or have any REAL wealth?

Fail post of the year! Could you add a few more, failed Liberal talking points in there? I think you missed a few. Look, facts don't lie, when the nations taxes rise, the GDP falls, when the tax rates are cut, the GDP raises. We've seen this time and time again. At this point, you are right, you can't cut taxes, all the liberal, vote purchasing, welfare programs have put us so far into debt that we have no hope of getting out unless we cut spending first. If a CEO ran his company's budget like Obama is "running" ours, he would be thrown in jail to rot for the rest of his days. Why aren't we doing this to Obama and his clowns? The government produces waste, whearas the private sector produces jobs and wealth. You wanna fix this economy? Cut government programs, get the government out of welfare, and put that into the hands of the churches and citizens. It's not rocket science.

i was wondering when you were going to post in here.
also another problem we have is crony capitalism. which is government being in bed with big business.
there is a difference between being pro big business and being pro-free market.
goverment has gotten to envolved with business, chosing winners and losers. they have created this sense of business being to big to fail, which isnt capitalism. it creates an environment of where businesses, take incredibly stupid risks, make terrible decisions that only benefit themselves, all because they no there will be no consequences for it. this is because of goverment involvement.
like when they pretty much forced banks to give loans to everyone becuase its a right to own a home, and we just cant possibly say no, to someone who handles their money as good as... well the goverment.
also what with people blaming these bush tax cuts, what bush tax cuts, was the democrats having super majorities in both houses and control of the white house not enough, then voting on tax rates not enough. couldnt even pass a budget.
