Fox News is just a Joke,  that comic strip nails in on the head as far as that video clip is concerned.

@osamaobama

Stop commenting on something you know nothing about,  its so blatantly obvious you dont know what you are talking about. theprof even explained it to you in very good detail and you couldnt understand it.  There is more to the criteria that has to be met than if its an artsy game or an educational game. No game company whos revenue is in the 100s of millions per year is going to get a grant from the government. So while COD and GTA may be considered art,  it doesnt meet the other criteria needed for this grant.

you clearly didnt wathc the video either then because the comic strip isnt even close to what happened.

also if games like call of duty cant get the grant, then thats even worse. that means some companies get privledges over others.

also what criteria has to be met more than being art. nerdy guy said, it has to be designated as art to get grants.

i couldnt care less if grants only went to indie devs, i dont want any of my money going to that stuff, not activision, ea, or anyone.

I did watch the video,  the comic strip is dead on as to what happened,  they got some conservative blow hard with an agenda on there to throw out inaccuracies about the topic, but because he has a radio show people, like you, will believe him. And the Fox News guy, like always, had no idea what he was talking about.

Its not meant for companies with 100s of millions at their disposal,  its meant for struggling independent developers.  If an independent developer makes a game like COD and can prove it has artistic or educational value to the board that decides who get the grants, then he may get the money.  Its meant for the little guys to help get their project going and out in the public, large corporations dont have that problem. Its no different then grants to go to college,  you wouldnt get them if you had a job that made 100k a year,  but you would if you made minimum wage.

You money is already gong to that stuff,  nothing changes,  they arent adding money to it because they are adding video games.  The only thing that would change is that video games would now be a recognized form of art.

Basically it sounds like you just want all struggling artists to stop getting government money because it doesnt help corporations.  And you also seem to think something like this has a huge impact on your taxes.  These grants probably dont equal 0.001% of your taxes

so you cant comprehend what happened in the video?

what does me being conservative have anything to do with you and the comic guy being innacurate about what happened in the video.

and the anchor didnt make any false statements, he asked questions to both people, it sounds like its you who have no idea what you are talking about.

it doesnt matter who its intended for, its who can get it. theres lots of stuff people get that was never originally intended for them.

and i got grants for college, and im not a minimum wage worker.

i know my money is already going to that stuff, and i want it to stop, and yes that means to the poor old developers who just simply cant make it without government proping them up. boo hoo, we arent a communist nation.

and where did you get that i want this money to go to corporations, i specifically said i dont want it to go to them, or anyone. we need to stop stupid and inneffective subsidies. let the free market weed out what are good and bad products.

So you got grants to go to college yet you dont want grants to go to other people who need them?  Hypocriasy much?

Giving someone money to further their education is not the same as someone making a video game.  We need smarts not video games.

The video games that would be made would be used to further others education.  So the video games would help make people smarter.

Thats what teachers are for.

The US federal government has no money.  In has much less than no money as it is in the hole by trillions of dollars and gets over a trillion more in the whole every year.  The majority of the US federal budget is waste and misuse of government.  All government funding of arts programs has to be cut right now.  There is no other option.  Either destroy the US by doing things like this or try to save the US by cutting funding in half.

Frankly, the person at the NEA that thought funding videogames made sense needs to be fired because they clearly have zero understanding of reality.

That guy trying to defend this was just trying to get on TV, something he clearly isn't meant to be on with his speaking abilities.

No they dont. What kind of school did you go to? Now you want to dump more money into teaching? Lets make the teachers job easier by giving kids a handhelp to learn while they surf the web on the computer. Thats that persons job not the electronic device with math on it.

You dont fix the budget of a country by cutting programs that are 0.0001% of the federal budget.

So teachers dont need teaching aids of any kind now?  So Books and computers can be cut from educational spending and leave it all up to the teachers now.

As for the schools I was in, I went to Public schooling and then a paid University. Where I got my Bachelors degree in Engineering.

every bit adds up. who's saying we should only cut this?

thats what got us into this mess, people saying, oh its only several million, dont worry our debt is 14 trillion, thats nothing, people wont even notice. we have to cut everything
