Yea should doesnt mean yes they are getting it like you made it out to be. |
Is it ok, if the military contacts Activision and contracts them out to do a combat simulator using Call of Duty, to train soldiers?

you clearly didnt wathc the video either then because the comic strip isnt even close to what happened. also if games like call of duty cant get the grant, then thats even worse. that means some companies get privledges over others. also what criteria has to be met more than being art. nerdy guy said, it has to be designated as art to get grants. i couldnt care less if grants only went to indie devs, i dont want any of my money going to that stuff, not activision, ea, or anyone. |
I did watch the video, the comic strip is dead on as to what happened, they got some conservative blow hard with an agenda on there to throw out inaccuracies about the topic, but because he has a radio show people, like you, will believe him. And the Fox News guy, like always, had no idea what he was talking about.
Its not meant for companies with 100s of millions at their disposal, its meant for struggling independent developers. If an independent developer makes a game like COD and can prove it has artistic or educational value to the board that decides who get the grants, then he may get the money. Its meant for the little guys to help get their project going and out in the public, large corporations dont have that problem. Its no different then grants to go to college, you wouldnt get them if you had a job that made 100k a year, but you would if you made minimum wage.
You money is already gong to that stuff, nothing changes, they arent adding money to it because they are adding video games. The only thing that would change is that video games would now be a recognized form of art.
Basically it sounds like you just want all struggling artists to stop getting government money because it doesnt help corporations. And you also seem to think something like this has a huge impact on your taxes. These grants probably dont equal 0.001% of your taxes

You would need knowledgeable and skilled engineers and scientists to build it. |
But stupid enough to leave a critical flaw in it.

so you cant comprehend what happened in the video?
what does me being conservative have anything to do with you and the comic guy being innacurate about what happened in the video.
and the anchor didnt make any false statements, he asked questions to both people, it sounds like its you who have no idea what you are talking about.
it doesnt matter who its intended for, its who can get it. theres lots of stuff people get that was never originally intended for them.
and i got grants for college, and im not a minimum wage worker.
i know my money is already going to that stuff, and i want it to stop, and yes that means to the poor old developers who just simply cant make it without government proping them up. boo hoo, we arent a communist nation.
and where did you get that i want this money to go to corporations, i specifically said i dont want it to go to them, or anyone. we need to stop stupid and inneffective subsidies. let the free market weed out what are good and bad products.

Thats using military tactics for the military which is used for communication training. Anything military is welcome. ALOT different from taking tax payers money to make an "artsy" game and then selling it to them.

So you got grants to go to college yet you dont want grants to go to other people who need them? Hypocriasy much?

Giving someone money to further their education is not the same as someone making a video game. We need smarts not video games.

i got them without even asking for them. i would would i decline, if any company declines them they are stupid, just as any company that avoid tax loopholes are stupid.

also hiring a company to help our military cary out a task mandated by the constitution, is different than giving companies tax payer money to make games

The video games that would be made would be used to further others education. So the video games would help make people smarter.
