I wouldn't worry about it. The incidents are isolated, they only affect older versions (like mine) and I left it on for 4 hours with no issue. I went out in the middle, alright?

OT: I'm really enjoying it, though it is rather...graphic, let's say. I'm fine with it, but the first time I did a homocide case I was pretty shocked and disturbed by seeing this naked lady on the ground with a battered head and markings on her chest. It was weird

However, even including that, I'm really liking it. And, for those worried about length- if you want to just finish it and aren't worried about all the secrets, clues, right answers etc. it can be done in around 12 hours. If you want to do everything, get everything right (like me) you're looking more at 30-35. It depends on what type of gamer you are.

I'm enjoying it, but there a lot of flaws. For starters I don't think the interrogation system is anywhere close to being as good as has been made out in general. I've had multiple occasions now where I've had a piece of evidence that connects the suspect to the case, so you try and follow the questioning and wait for a chance to pick lie so you can point out this evidence, but the right question never comes up, or worse, it does and you pick lie, and then he goes and pulls a 180 and accuses the suspect based on something else that you can't prove.

That's true with all of them though, as the three options can sometimes go wildly off tangent with what you might expect. It's like you pick doubt so you wouldn't necessarily expect a full blown accusation, but then he starts shouting and ranting about how he thinks the suspect has gone on a wild killing spree or something, when to me you'd be looking at trying to trip the suspect up logically.

I think if you could pick specific questions to ask after picking each initial topic in the notebook (as you would in various RPG or classic adventure games), rather than just a generic 'truth, doubt, lie' option then it would be a hell of a lot better.

I also don't like how you can't go back if you get a question wrong without replaying the case. In actual interrogations you'd be hammering the suspect with repeat questions until he/she cracks, not dismissing something if you didn't get the right answer first time around.

But, in saying all that. It's still pretty damn good. It's just not a massive success like previous Rockstar games.

I'm absolutely terrible at reading people, "body talk," and emotions.  But, despite my suckage at reading people here, I'm really loving the game.  I've never gotten into conversations of game characters like this before.  It's awesome.

Just finished the game at about 27 hours or so, and I have to say that that was one of the worst endings to a game I've ever seen. In fact from the third case of the Arson desk was pure fuckery.

I thought I'd really like the game, but it's basically a theater piece, I just press buttons and things happen with no consequences. I'm just not digging it, the voice acting is really good, the facial stuff is cool and the soundtrack is nice, but the game part of it is boring. People compare it to Heavy Rain, but the difference is that you can fail your own personal goals in Heavy Rain, if I want to keep Madison alive, healthy and mentally stable, I have to make sure I make all the right choices and make sure I'm quick on my feet, L.A. Noire doesn't have that sort of tension or feeling of accomplishment.

Even visually, the game isn't that great, the facial stuff is great at first, but it becomes less impressive as you keep playing, especially when you start to notice how it's just a human face on a doll body and that the actual environments in the game are fairly average. I think Enslaved and Uncharted did it better, the L.A. Noire method seems promising but flawed.

I'm still really early in the game, but I expected much more out of the facial feature stuff, I expected better pacing and I expected more WOW moments, similar to what I got when I first saw the facial animation.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Awful game, the open world is totally wasted, the crime solving is pretty much impossible to fail out, you can miss most major clues, just doubt all answers and still close the cases.

There should be no sense of achievmeent solving anything, because really all you achieve is being spoon fed progression through a case.  Over and over.

Somehow, I don't think this game is really designed for you

Yeah, I like good games.

I see what ya did there...

But, seriously, it requires patience. You either get it or you don't. I get it. I like trying to get everything right. I like trying to wreck my car. I like getting 5*. If you don't, it isn't for you.

I would like to be able to arrest street thugs. They always fight to the death, at least in the 12 I've responded to so far. Even flanking them and trying to tackle them from behind doesn't work, you simply run past them while they pivot and keep shooting at you. Nobody ever runs out of bullets?

I was wrong before, I had hoped the cases wouldn't turn into shoot outs with waves of canon fodder. Yet not far in there it was. Hopefully not more of that nonsense turns up.

Evidence so far is pretty limited and the conversation doesn't always go the way you expect it to. Multiple times I choose one option and he goes in a totally different direction with it. Imo a heavy rain style dialogue system and being able to get back to questions would be more enjoyable. Restarting the case from the beginning without being able to skip any of the dialogue is too big a barrier for me to experiment with different answers.

Otherwise great game, great atmosphere, awesome to play in black and white. Greater then the sum of it's at times lacking parts.

I'm not that interested in shooters (openworld or not. Though I did enjoy Crackdown) so my interest in this game was pretty much zero. But then I saw that one of the youtube users I follow uploaded a LA Noire Let's Play so I checked it out. The game seems to be based primarily on detective work with some action sequences (some of which require shooting). So there's a good chance I may like it. Added it to my rental queue yesterday. Probably won't get a chance to play it for awhile since with my rental service it's pretty much impossible to get a popular game sent to you soon after release unless you reserved the rental a few days in advance at least (which I didn't because I thought this would just be 1920s GTA and I dont like GTA.)
