I'm mostly done with the game. I'm on the Arson Desk, which I believe is the final desk of the game, and I have about four cases left.
The way I feel about the game is that it's not for nitpickers. It's something that open minded gamers will enjoy and closed minded gamers worrying about frame rates, graphics and perfection are going to get turned away from. There's a laundry list of little glitches in this game, and the open world design really doesn't fit the core experience of LA Noire. With that said, I absolutely love this game. Sometimes I get bored with a case. Other times I'm on the edge of my seat. I just feel the unique elements of this game trumps any negatives it may have, essentially washing them out.
The story and how you interact with it is the whole point to this game. Everything else, including the open world is all fluff. The main component is grabbing your evidence and using it in your interrogations. Everything else is just so secondary, and meant to just break these sections up some. That one element of this game I find to be amazing. It feels like I'm on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and everything rides on getting this one question right. Even though I know the game will advance whether I flubb a line of questioning up or not, I find myself pounding my fist every time I choose wrong after careful deliberation. Studying the little nuances in their speech and facial expressions to make a proper read on them is something gaming has never had, and it's something I welcome in the future.
There's probably a million things I would have done different in this game to improve it, but I can't stop loving the things it does right. The highs of the game, particularly the entirety of the Homicide Desk, is going to stick with me as one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences.
