It's the only other game outside of HEAVY RAIN & Uncharted 2 that girls have enjoyed watching me play.

I'm about 65-70% through the game (last I checked, it was 65% completion but I have played a bit since then).

PS3 version-only.

Good: The game's main goal is outstanding - best facial animation in a game since Heavenly Sword (while clearing it as well). The interrogations are unique, engaging, and can be downright exceptional. Graphics are detailed (most of the time); the cars look fantastic and interiors are rich in detail a good deal of the time. The game is pretty long too, feels like I've been playing forever and I'm still a bit a ways from finishing.

So-So/Not as Good: While the game has more high points to discuss than negatives, it's still got it's share of issues that needed mentioning. The frame rate drops a good deal of the time (I know it's an open-world title, but sometimes the drops feel like crawls). Also, despite the incredible motion scan technology used on the faces, body animations can be spotty. Stiffness & jerkiness break immersion at times - which if it were many other titles, wouldn't be as big of a deal but in LA NOIRE, the level of facial animation is so high that anything less than it really stands out.

Verdict: Despite it's shortcomings, LA NOIRE manages to be an immersive thrill ride that has to be experienced to be appreciated. It's not as ground breaking as I originally thought it would be, but it certainly enters new territory in the game's biz. With a lengthy campaign, the best facial animation the industry has to offer, a good bit of side missions and enough collectables to give it a second test drive, LA NOIRE will surely make it to quite a bit of GOTY lists at the conclusion of 2011.

Aw come on! The game came out a year and a half ago. If someone hasn't played it yet than something is wrong with them.
