Forums - Gaming - L.A. Noire was once a six-disc game on Xbox 360

so when ff 13 is on multiple discs every 1 cries about it for years and says you cut content

now when la noire was originally on 6 discs and was cut 2 3 everyone defends it

Every game has content that gets cut because it's not good enough for the final product.

In this case you're forgetting that everything that was on these previous 6 discs has been compressed to fit on 3 DVDs. They didn't cut 3 DVDs worth of content.

I don't see how it's a big deal, to be honest.  the 'inconvenience' of multi-disc games lasts all of about 30 seconds per disc swap throughout the entire game.  for a game lasting hours and hours, I just don't see the complaint.  Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX all had multiple discs and back then people were ecstatic that Square had the balls to make such an epic-scale game.   I think this applies to LA Noire as well.

Now if the game was poorly made, like you had to switch every time you went into a new district or something, I'd be upset, but if the game's good and well done, I honestly fail to see what the big deal is.  suck it up, boys and girls and just have fun!

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Who care if its 12 discs? It's just switching discs.

Theres only what, 3 or so games a year that end up being multi disc? MS just increased the storage size of newer discs supposedly with this upcoming update by a gig or so. I don't see what the big deal is.

Also the next XBox is about two years or so away. If they don't increase the storage size next gen then you can critiize them all you want.

It's just that simple.

I don't see how people can complain about disk swapping, if anyone's played PC games with multiple install discs they'd know it's more annoying than a 30 second disk swap. Mass Effect 2's game basically at a "Commercial Break" moment so I didn't have a problem with it. If anyone here has LA Noire for the 360, do the disk swaps occur after after a set amount of cases or during normal gameplay?

Absolutely pathetic how we still have games released on multiple discs. The PS3 version is superior alone for the fact that it is on one disc, only an idiot who has both consoles would pick up the xbox version.

Wow...

People like you amaze me.

This is why next generation the medium should be solid state. Maybe a developer wants to optimize the game to ocupy minimum space so they can use the lowest size available; but some other might like to produce a grand scale game. The medium size can be chosen depending on the project.

Plus think of the loading times.

solid state costs way too much to have full console games on. disk based media is used because it gives much more storage at a low cost

Microsoft should've had the HD-DVD Drive built into the 360 whether it won the format or not

at least it could be used for games if not both games & movies if they didn't want ot use Blu-Ray

Is a bad example because it really hurt the game back then....especially on disc four where they even cut locations, so if you missed some items you were fucked it annoyed me back then..

To me, the problem with disc-swapping is not the time. Its the interruption. On PC's the install helps with loading times and also you have to install only at the beginning. I always install 360 games as well so that's there on the 360 too, it takes around 10 minutes to install each disc, so Mass effect 2 on 360 takes around 20 minutes to start up with installed data and even with that you have to disc-swap twice through the whole game which isn't such a big deal, but its better to just not have any disc-swapping in the first place.
