You don't HAVE to be lacking exclusives the rest of the year :P.

You could join the Trey brotherhood.

I will start buying PS exclusives when they release interesting ones

Oh I see, your a member of that "PS3 haz no gamez" crew.

What happened to ElPresador? I miss that guy, he was hilarious.

So basically you are saying that both the Wii and the XBOX 360 have better exclusives than the PS3 this year and next year?

Nothing wrong with splashing out on both, I can assure you that you could find at least a few games worth playing on the PS3.

He has a PS3. And he is entitled to his own opinion.

his game collection says otherwise

as well as his posts

but like you said he is entitled to his opinion, however ridiculous.

Hey relax I'm joking, I thought you would have got that when I refered to the "trey brotherhood" xD.

Ah I didn't know who ElPresador is/was so that must have been why I missed it.

He's a "PS3 fanboy" on Youtube, he's pretty funny, but I think he was just trollin'.

He dissapeared a year ago though, haven't seen any videos from him since.

Man at first I thought you weren't funny but your last post is so full of biased bs I can't stop laughing... we get it, you  can't see past your hate for MS and feel the need to tell everyone... good for you. Don't you have exclusives en mass to play? Instead of ... well, whatever!

I agree for those that don't own or don't plan of ever owning Kinect that if what MS has to show at this E3 is all Kinect stuff it's going to be dissapointing. Kinect may have 10 mil of user base but the 360's user base is still above 50 mil so it would surprise me that MS passes on that.

No bias whatsoever.  Gears of War is close to my favorite game this generation.  Definitely up there for it's MP.  I don't hate MS at all.  This is just the limitations with MS's storming the console market plan from day one.  Eventually, Sony will re-gain atleast equal footing with third parties and then the two consoles will pit first party versus first party.   Since MS doesn't have a first party to speak of, it's pretty much a default win for Sony.

And yes, I think it's great they are supporting Kinect but if they release 10 new Kinect IPs and no new or 1 or 2 new IPs core core gamers,  I think by and large that's a big disappointment for upwards to 40 million owners.

At what point can't Kinect and core overlap?

I believe there is some overlap, but again they are catering to what currently is around only 20% of their market.  You have to imagine that more of the 'core' sits without Kinect, than sits with it.

Additionally,  many games released for the Kinect to date are definitively for the  'non-core'.    What makes anyone confident that this pattern is going to change without some evidence is beyond me.

I was joking with those comments, sorry, I didn't make it very obvious.

I have to admit, I did think it was a little bit harsh (and rediculous) when he said that the PS3 has no interesting games, even in 2011 / 2012. I mean, I own both consoles but I still have more exclusives for the PS3, mainly because I have no interest in shooters. "uninteresting" was the wrong terminology I think, it's more about preference, like in my case.

I'm new to this website so I don't know all the fanboys yet, but if there are any, I'LL CRUSH 'EM.

Rpruett said:

So 10 / 53 million consoles?   So Microsoft is catering to only 18% of their total market?  And you're praising them?

No, they're catering to 100% as they continue to make products for both, you're just choosing to ignore the Halos, Forza and Gears. If I were to ignore LBP, Uncharted 3 and KZ3 Sony has a very underwhelming lineup this year.

Rpruett said:

I would agree with you, maybe the first three Halo games that got released this generation.  Four games in the same generation?  That's over the top, especially for a game series with tons of replayability contained within the multi-player.

Four games I would say is far too few.

Rpruett said:

That's over the top, especially for a game series with tons of replayability contained within the multi-player.

I will comment on this later

Rpruett said:

No one cares that many (all, some, etc) of the Kinect games might be complete shovelware?

No. They could be the best games ever made or the worse, the nature of the games draw remains the same which is why there are 10 million copies of Kinect Adventures and 30 Million balance boards in peoples homes.

Rpruett said:

Talk to Nintendo fans about all the cheap cash-ins on motion control games that they have dealt with this generation.

Except the Wii was never a hub for hardcore games this generation, so when Nintendo lets you down -that's it, even if you don't like a single Xbox 360 game this generation, the system is worth it for multiplatform games alone.  The Xbox 360 was born for hardcore games and that's never going to change.

Rpruett said:

Make no mistake about it,  if many of these Kinect games are cash-in shovelware type of games they will greatly disappoint (The 18% that own Kinect).

ITS A MOTION CONTROLLER!

Shovelware is implied and ingrained in it's nature, every game should be assumed as such, although there will be exceptions. It was supposed to be like this. Nintendo and Microsoft were never genuinely wanting to create new and interesting ways to control games, that's just PR. Nintendo thought "What gimmick can make the Revolution like the DS was for handhelds". Microsoft thought "How can we copy Nintendo, without copying them and undercut them"

Motion controls are a marketing exercise, they do however have some funny side effects.

Rpruett said:

Why is Twisted Metal essentially a cancelled PSN game?

Jaffe said so. Somehow making it retail, didn't magically add a Campaign mode. '

Rpruett said:

It's essentially an 'upgraded' PSN game.

Then Kinect games are 'upgraded' XBLA games. So why the concern on value and content for Xbox 360 games but not PS3 games.

Rpruett said:

I disagree.  Halo is getting trounced by Call of Duty across the board on various platforms.

I am unsurprised you had to refer to a multiplatform 3rd party game to state that.  Plus you realise this also goes for Sony as well, since CoD has usurped every first party PS3 game, that generally makes their first party "trump" card redundant.

Rpruett said:

Halo Reach while currently tracking higher than Halo 3 (Albeit with much larger front loaded sales) I still have my doubts will ever surpass Halo 3.

I'd put that difference down to the Halo 3 Elite bundle of 2009, just do the same again with Reach if they were so inclined, it's redundant either way as a bundled sales is no measure of demand.

Rpruett said:

Gears is about the same in my eyes.  It's hardly grown or shrunk from the initial game.  Gears 2 will be marginally above Gears 1 by the time Gears 3 releases.  And won't end much higher.

I agree, hence as big as ever. Although I would say, despite not launching in a holiday, Gears 3 will do better thanks to the incredible Beta.

Rpruett said:

There has been (2) Uncharted's this generation, on the verge of (3).  Which is identical to Gears of War.

4 including upcoming the PSP game and Gears of War Exile. I see no reason to segregate platforms if your concern is franchise milking.

Rpruett said:

However, anyone who has played both games would say that Gears of War is more geared for multi-player (And has been since the first game in the series),

It cannot be helped, Uncharted 1 had no multiplayer and Uncharted 2s was tacked on. You can't blame Epic for making a game with a richer feature set and spin it to make another game look better. I'd argue Gears of War has a greater emphasis on the single player game because whereas Uncharteds plots are self-contained, Gears of War has a continuing and unresolved number of plot arcs that carry on and continue into sequels.

Rpruett said:

In this vein, Uncharted is a game with less re-playability.   Which requires more sequels.

This is awful. You're really suggesting that franchises that offer less replayability and value are more deserving of sequels for franchises that do? That is truly a terribly justification.

Rpruett said:

The point is Gears of War truly has more replayability. It's not being critical of the series, it's just the truth. To be quite honest, I am surprised that they are even releasing a third game.

So to reconfirm, you think that games with more replayability should delay their followups moreso than if they had less replayability.

Rpruett said:

I think they should have waited for the next generation to hit to prolong the series, instead of milking it for everything it's worth this generation.

What makes you think Gears of War will not continue into next generation anyway? Also it is interesting that you think 3 games a generation is too much, but play up franchises on PS3 that are well past their 3rd iteration

Rpruett said:

They're different like Madden 2010 is different from Madden 2011.  Sure there is some differences but on an overall sense, they really aren't.

I could apply this to any sequel I please and be just as correct as you.

Rpruett said:

God of War has one release on the PS3.

Well, 3 including GoW Collection.

Rpruett said:

Maybe if they allow PSP games to be played on your PS3 you could count that I suppose.

We are looking at milking franchises/ips. It's global.

Rpruett said:

Resistance is working on it's third title.

Or fifth title.

Rpruett said:

Gran Turismo has essentially 2 releases on PS3 this generation

Or 4 including the PSP and GTHD.

Rpruett said:

Uncharted is working on it's third release.

 And forth.

Rpruett said:

And Little Big Planet has two releases on PS3.

And one on PSP and another already shown on NGP.

Rpruett said:

Ratchet and Clank might be the only game milked as much as Halo and to be quite honest Ratchet and Clank is never anything more than a complimentary piece to the overall software lineup from Sony,

As is Halo for Microsoft, it just happens to be the second biggest.

Rpruett said:

not counted on to be the game-changer.

I don't think you could count any of the Sony IP's as game changers, unless you mean it changed Sonys position from first place to last place.

Rpruett said:

Sales don't show anything more than marketing and popular trends.

And Microsoft is giving the market what it wants on a fairly regular basis.

Rpruett said:

And yes, I would say that having a solid launch lineup is always a great 'stratagem' for the next gen.  Instead of waiting a full year until a good title gets released for a system.

Well 2/2 then, both Xbox's have always had good launch titles.

Rpruett said:

They really can't.  They've lost the developer who made the series what it is

They cut the programmers who didn't want to work on Halo and hired the ones that did to make more Halo. It's either that or the Bungie MMO.

Rpruett said:

They're already getting outsold and outplayed by Call of Duty.

Similary Killzone, Resistance and Socom, Need for Speed also outsells Gran Turismo and Assassins Creed outsells Uncharted. Clearly Sonys first party are worthless.

Rpruett said:

You don't see other platformers trumping Mario.

Because no-one makes platformers anymore.

Rpruett said:

So between Halo,Forza,Gears and Kinect we've covered all tastes of everyone who owns a 360.  Gotcha.

Nope, but it is covered for blockbusters for 3 of the biggest franchises in gaming and this is classed as abandoning the hardcore. If Gears Forza and Halo are not a hardcore year for Xbox, when is?  Likewise i'd ask if you think 2x 90 scoring games plus a dozen mediocre games is any different from Gears 3, Forza 4 and several dozen mediocre Kinect games.

Rpruett said:

You really believe we'll see Forza, Gears and Halo this holiday?  .  I'll have what you're smoking.

2/3 confirmed. Given the numerous rumors and 10th anniversary, no Halo Remake would be more surprising.

Rpruett said:

If Microsoft produces no games worth purchasing from January till November, and then pumps out three titles at Christmas is that any different than Sony releasing various games across the year?

I'm not seeing the distinction. You seem to be forgetting the only reason Sony has a lot of games the first half of 2011, is because of the barely there lineup from March 2010 to late January 2011

I'd mention Fable if not for the not-even-as-good-as-a-spinoff Fable 3. I foresee a new Fable being announced. I'm very wary of it, in any case.

On the bright side, if Codename: Kingdoms ends up being an RPG (As many first-person melee games are) that could be collected as a title into that ever ambiguous web under the denomination "core" games. I seriously hope it is, with one hand on the controller stick.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
