Microsoft is an example of corporate greed, yes. Sony is about as good an example as Microsoft.

Give me some examples of how SONY have been greedy. Am I missing out on something here? So many people complain about SONY but I have never seen them do anything greedy. They just play by the rules and get on with their job.

And did SONY ever fuck up in the 90's? They only seem to be fucking up since the PS3 came out...

That was just plain stupidity, not greed.

Both of these consoles have fairly low failure rates. I have 3 PS1's and 2 PS2's, all of them work as if they are new, the only time I have known of a Playstation console failing is when I went round my friends house and his PS2 wouldn't turn on. That was one hell of a boring weekend.

All electronic devices will break at some point, you can't expect every single one of them to work forever, compared to the competition the PS1 / PS2 have fairly low failure rates. Even if the consoles did fail, once again, it isn't an example of greed.

Succeeding doesn't mean that SONY were not being competitive. The N64 and the Sega Saturn were fairly flawed compared to the Playstation. The N64 lacked a CD drive which restricted developers and the Sega Saturn's hardware was a mess, sure SEGA could brag that the thing had 3 processors but it struggled with 3D gaming. The PS2 just rode on the success of the PS1, no foul play there either.

Never really heard of that term either, but I guess you are referring to Betamax, DVD, Blu-Ray etc. I don't see how SONY competing in the format war makes them greedy, especially if they put their format out first.
