wow, I came in here to troll that it would be 10 kinect games...and it really is..

Now I just feel bad for you guys

EDIT: and halo and forza...snooze

Exactly! Now I've lost the will to troll forever! Especially since the people who are complaining are actual 360 fans.

I too feel bad all of a sudden.

I'm just pissed about Codename: Kingdoms being a Kinect game, it kinda sucked the wind out of me when I read that

10 new IPs on Kinect? How many people own Kinect?

10 Million

Jazz2K said:

(At a minimum they are leaving a majority of non-Kinect owners hanging out to dry).

No, i'd have to say a holiday with Gears, Halo and Forza is every hardcore gamers dream.

Jazz2K said:

Then you need to be concerned If they are even full-fledged titles with tons of value associated.  Generally as we have seen with the Motion control movement (Tons and Tons and Tons of Shovelware, regardless of the console

No one cares. They're exclusive and seperating them for their control system means the same applies to things like the DS and the Wii and the PS3 Dual Shock 3.

Speaking of fully fledged content, where do you put something like Twisted Metal and Ratchet and Clank All 4 one in terms of "value associated" because i've seen them on listwars when they're essentially cancelled PSN games forced to retail.

Jazz2K said:

These are third and fourth sequels to loved games.  I'm sorry the luster is gone (Atleast with this current hardware).  What else are you going to buy though?

Stop speaking for everyone, Halo and Gears are as big as ever, bigger even.

Jazz2K said:

The thing is, by having a diverse exclusive lineup, they not only have more chances to hit with success, they have a greater chance to strike joy within every sect of their ownership/fanbase.  Sorry to say it, but if you don't like Forza,Halo, or Gears you're pretty much screwed.

Insert Uncharted, god of war, GT, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon as applicable.

How droll to try and gloss over a companies successful franchises - Hey, if you ignore Avatar, Titanic and T2 - James Cameron is pretty much screwed.

Jazz2K said:

Core gamers care most about the quality of overall lineups with games that have their interests in mind.

For the forseeable future then, at least this holiday, the combo of Forza Gears Halo is of higher calibur then resistance uncharted twisted metal

Jazz2K said:

I'm not going to get into a list war with you, but we all know that the PS3 has more compelling releases to date across various genres for 2011.

I feel gamers will be compelled to buy more Xbox 360 exclusives this year than PS3 exclusives. Stake my account on it.

Jazz2K said:

And yes they are sequels (As I mentioned above) Gears is working on it's third game (And has notoriety for it's fun multi-player), Uncharted is similar also working on it's third game but Uncharted has notoriety for it's fun Single-player.)   In essence, Uncharted needs , more sequels because for many people once you beat the single player campaign, it's over.

Ridiculous that you try to justify this kind of thing. Plus you basically ignore the fact that Gears of War's campaigns and multiplayer are not seperate entities.  They are one and the same

Jazz2K said:

Forza is working on it's third release with a possible MMO-ish 4th.  A good series but hard to justify making 4 purchases of the same game (In my eyes).

They are all different games, not in your eyes.

Jazz2K said:

And Halo has been the worst offender thus far.  Halo 3,Halo ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Reach.  There isn't a PS3 IP on it's 4th iteration this generation that I can think of.

Since you're counting spin-offs, we can include God of War, Ratchet, Resistance Gran Turismo, Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet and possibly more. None as successful as those Halo games.

Jazz2K said:

If you're not a little Halo'd, Gears, Forza'd out by now, I think there is something wrong.  They need to come up with some new IPs to get you excited for next generation and bring out new Gears, Halo, etc

Um, clearly the sales show folks are more happy with these franchises then most alternatives. I also wouldn't dictate what is the best stratagem for next gen.

Jazz2K said:

Sony has a few like Resistance, Uncharted, Motorstorm.  But they also have many more exclusive titles to release simultaneously with these milked Sony franchises.  Where as Microsoft makes these milked franchises their mantlepiece.

Microsoft can make the franchise it's mantlepiece, it's the difference between having a killer app vs. filler apps.

I hope you understand the one you quoted is me but some guy replied to me and you got my name on the replies... anyway!

Saying sequels on PS3 are welcomed and justified but sequels on 360 are unwanted milking sounds like a joke of a response and can not be taken seriously. Especially when he compared Uncharted to Gears... lol that's gold.

Oh, ok, from reading the article I got the impression that all of this had been announced or something.

I shall wait for an offical announcement before I get my panties in a twist, thank you

It is starting to get pretty bad actually.........

what happened to the old Vgchartz?  This site is still amazing and my favorite on the web but the community is seriously starting to degrade.  People now days are taking rumor as fact and its become just about who can make the most rediculous over the top threads to get the most hits.

There is VERY little real just gaming disussion now days besides in the Sony exclusive games threads.

Could you imagine if Sony was about to announce 10 Move games, a new God of War, new Gran Turismo, and a new Ratchet and Clank?

The move games would be teh hardcorez, and the tired franchise games somehow wouldn't be overused. Again.

O double standard, how you symbolize the human race so well.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

So 10 / 53 million consoles?   So Microsoft is catering to only 18% of their total market?  And you're praising them? They aren't even reaching 20% of their owners with these products.  Absolutely terrible in my eyes.  If these are all true blue Kinect games then that's just a horrible strategy, really neglecting their userbase.

mendozahotness said:

I would agree with you, maybe the first three Halo games that got released this generation.  Four games in the same generation?  That's over the top, especially for a game series with tons of replayability contained within the multi-player.

mendozahotness said:

No one cares that many (all, some, etc) of the Kinect games might be complete shovelware?  Please.  Talk to Nintendo fans about all the cheap cash-ins on motion control games that they have dealt with this generation.  Make no mistake about it,  if many of these Kinect games are cash-in shovelware type of games they will greatly disappoint (The 18% that own Kinect).

I put titles like Twisted Metal and Ratchet and Clank as good value (Generally $40 price tag) with the contained content.  Why is Twisted Metal essentially a cancelled PSN game?  It's essentially an 'upgraded' PSN game.  A game that was given more time to polish and add content, at a higher price tag.    I actually like games like Warhawk that come as $40 games.  They're like mid-content games.

mendozahotness said:

I disagree.  Halo is getting trounced by Call of Duty across the board on various platforms.  It's no longer the most popular shooter on the console it's exclusive to.   Bungie has left, which generally is not a positive for a game series. Halo Reach while currently tracking higher than Halo 3 (Albeit with much larger front loaded sales) I still have my doubts will ever surpass Halo 3.

Gears is about the same in my eyes.  It's hardly grown or shrunk from the initial game.  Gears 2 will be marginally above Gears 1 by the time Gears 3 releases.  And won't end much higher.

mendozahotness said:

There has been (2) Uncharted's this generation, on the verge of (3).  Which is identical to Gears of War.  However, anyone who has played both games would say that Gears of War is more geared for multi-player (And has been since the first game in the series), where as Uncharted is more single-player story driven (Although Uncharted 2s MP is highly underrated).    In this vein, Uncharted is a game with less re-playability.   Which requires more sequels.  But yes, it is comparable to Gears of War.

God of War has only one release this generation. (Fable, Halo, Forza, Gears) have all had multiple releases.

Mario has different sects of games (2D Platformer / 3D Platformer).  The 3D Platformer has only released 2 games (With no more in sight).  The 2D version only one. (Both still less than Forza,Halo,Gears).

Zelda has only released one true Zelda game this generation, on the verge of 2.  (Still less than Fable, Forza, Gears,Halo).

You really believe we'll see Forza, Gears and Halo this holiday?   I'll have what you're smoking.   As for holiday specific lineup?  I could careless.  If Microsoft produces no games worth purchasing from January till November, and then pumps out three titles at Christmas is that any different than Sony releasing various games across the year?

mendozahotness said:

I think gamers will purchase certain Xbox 360 exclusives in droves and certain ones not at all.  I believe the overall Software numbers will be very comparable however.  The PS3 is selling more software currently and I don't see any title that will sell tremendously more on the 360 releasing this year.

 mendozahotness said:

The point is Gears of War truly has more replayability. It's not being critical of the series, it's just the truth. To be quite honest, I am surprised that they are even releasing a third game.  I think they should have waited for the next generation to hit to prolong the series, instead of milking it for everything it's worth this generation.

mendozahotness said:

They're different like Madden 2010 is different from Madden 2011.  Sure there is some differences but on an overall sense, they really aren't.

Ratchet and Clank might be the only game milked as much as Halo and to be quite honest Ratchet and Clank is never anything more than a complimentary piece to the overall software lineup from Sony,  not counted on to be the game-changer.

mendozahotness said:

Sales don't show anything more than marketing and popular trends.  And yes, I would say that having a solid launch lineup is always a great 'stratagem' for the next gen.  Instead of waiting a full year until a good title gets released for a system.

mendozahotness said:

They really can't.  They've lost the developer who made the series what it is.  They're already getting outsold and outplayed by Call of Duty.  It's the second best shooter on the 360.  You don't see other platformers trumping Mario.

They are almost at 13 million sold now, so around 22%, next of all Kingdoms hasn't been confirmed as anything.. I love people that jump on the rumor bandwagon, neother has Alan Wake, Halo CE, or any other RUMORED game, so just stop.

Next, Sony always milks every franchise down to the bone and they have so many sequels for their games you really shouldn't say shit about MS(although they do it as well).

Gears 3 will outsell LBP2, KZ3, and Infamous 2 combined, plus if even half of these titles are announced MS will once again blow Sony away in software sales.

You are going to say that about Gears but look at Sony milking UC and KZ for all its worth, so once again you are not allowed to comment.

I am hopeful for MS E3 conference and I would like to see how this hybrid tech is going to work with hardcore games, but I'm gonna be patient and wait for people to announce things officially, instead of buying into every rumor on the net.
