Forums - Gaming Discussion - Square-Enix is doomed. Here's why.

FF9 was their last fully-featured Final Fantasy game.  In FF10, they started taking out some features like the flyable airship and FF classic theme.  By FF 13, it was pretty much an action game with RPG elements.

But, trying to Westernize so much will give them Westernized losses.  Notice how most JP publishers are profiting while Western publishers are bleeding.

The only hope they can start reversing things is to get rid of Wada immediately.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Is that true? Most of the time there are western games in the top ten... how can the japs be profiting if they don't sell as much?

And I never thought I'd say that but I wouldn't miss SE except for Enix like someone said.

I would miss Enix, not Square. I love Dragon Quest and so far they are all amazing

And people are asking how Japan and it's developers can become relevant again I guess by not dying out and making games within their budgets... then when the western developer segment collapses Japan will be relevant again as they'll be the only ones in business and making games Japan comes to save the American game market part deux

I think SE will be okay - since after FF13 and FF14 Wada seems to be puting pressure on the Japanese studios. i think Deus Ex and Tomb Raider be successful and give Edios and whoever else Sqaure own a chance to make more successful games.

and no FF13-2 will not be an instant success. i dont even think FF13 is successful - 5 years - a million dollar game engine scrapped, a lot of fans alienated by FF13, a complete PR diasaster with FF14. - and no mention of FF15 even though we know next gen consoles are coming in about 3 years. so no this is not success. this is living on a knife edge. the series might not recover and become like Sonic the Hedghog.

I've always been amazed how the company that owns the rights to FF and DQ, the 2nd and 3rd biggest JRPG series, can cock up so badly.

But then I remembered they're Square-Enix

Square can go to hell for all i care as long as Enix is ok. Dragon Quest is an Amazing franchise and i look forward to future iterations of it.

I don't think Square Eniz can ever die tbh, I'm sure someone will be willing to buy them, they are so large and have such big money making game series', that the investment to save them would surely be worth it, all they'd need to do, is cut out the MMO's, trim the development teams down to size and give them a DEADLINE, no more huge development cycles and hopefully less time between when a game releases in Japan to when it releases everywhere else (although FF13 and FF13-2 have help sort out this last problem)

Square Enix is such a sad case that i really dont want to read about their fukked up business...

I wish Japanese developers / publishers come out on top again. Looking at the games coming out this year, it looks like they are making a huge comeback.

EDIT: Was it you that banned me for a MONTH for my Wii comment?
