Too bad they didn't buy Free Radical.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I'm pretty sure Nintendo can't buy a Sony studio so SCE Cambridge is definitely out, Also Media Molecule has a good deal with Sony so they're out too. I don't know about Rare... But the others are good choices.

New Devs
2. Headstrong Games
Why?: Headstong Games has shown that they can make creative, and innovative titles. They can also make games in genres that Nintendo can't (House of The Dead). They have a decet ense of craftmanship, and a lot of talent under the hood. I would like to see what Nintendo and Headstrong come up with together.
3. Treasure
Why?: Treasure, games seem like the kind that Nintendo would like. Tanabe said that they need someone with a sense of craftmanship, and Treasure has just that. They make unique, and polished games, and would make a good addition to Nintendo's group of studios.
4. Crytek UK (Free Radical Design)
Crytek UK is mostly made up of mostly ex-Free Radicals, who all used to work at Rare. The rest speaks for itself.
Others:
Arika
Vicarious Visons
n-Space
5th Cell

Level 5 and Cing... Cing is not a brainer, and level5 is a very nintendo-kind of company...

How big is Level 5? I think it's becoming a very big company, they are developing many games at the same time, I don't know if Nintendo previously bought so big software houses.
I think treasure would make a good 2nd party studio for Nintendo myself. I could imagine Nintendo 'rescuing' them if they were ever going to go down.

According to Wikipedia Nintendo apparently doesn't own Good-Feel (yet), which makes them a must have IMO. I'm pretty sure this will happen anyway, given the close relationship between the two. If not, they should be on the top of the list in terms of urgency.
Another good addition would be DIMPS, and maybe Ganbarion, though the last one is less likely (and less urgent IMO).
Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
