Forums - Nintendo - Talk to me about Goldeneye Wii

I recently watched a gameplay video of Goldeneye Wii and must say I am intrigued.

I want to know whether the online community is still there.

I want to know all the controller options(wii, Wii motionplus, classic controller, GCN controller)

I want to know how many players are supported online.

I want to know how the online compares to other shooters on the ps3 and 360.

I want to know all the game types and modes.

I want to know all the splitscreen/online splitscreen(if existant) options.

I want to know the campaign length and whether that supports online coop/local coop.

I want to know if the game has any patches(like BO on the wii).

I want to know if it is actually fun.

as far as i know:

idk

yeas, wiimote(dont think motion plus makes a difference), classic controller, gc controller.

8 player online

idk

as for this(game modes) i cant name any specifics, but i do know that there is the usual deathmatch modes, plus a bunch from the old game such as golden gun.

there are over several different modifications for splitscreen mp including melee only, paintball, oneshot kills, headshot only, ect.

i have heard about 8 hours but dont quote me on that. there is no co-op

idk.

from what little i have played of it(a few hours with a friend on splitscreen) i had a blast. the game is probably the best splitscreen shooter on the system. i have not tried online or single player.

Isn't there an official thread about goldeneye? Or Am I confusing it with something else?

I thought that was about online rankings. If it is not, can yo provide me a link to it?

Guess not, but I assume at one time someone might have had a pretty detailed thread, but I can't find it.

Ugh... This number saddens me. :(

Mag sure has spoiled me.

@homer  you know what i thought the exact same thing about the online. "only eight players? Fail, eurocom. MOH Heroes on PSP has more than that" BUT i actually played the damn thing and its tons of fun, the online community is strong, hell its stronger than some of the HD FPSs. every controller is supported except motion which is a damn shame, the online is smooth as crap, never ran into lag. no patches, i dont know about campaign havent finished it yet. im not the biggest Wii fan in the world, but this game gets my full approval, the only thing that sucks is that is has no voice chat. I would give it a rental to see if that bothers you or not

Most of those can be answered by any review site, so I won't bother to here.

To be honest, I haven't played online myself, my son did.  Worked really well.

I have it for split-screen and single player and both are a lot of fun.   Unlike too many Wii games, it doesn't feel like they skimped with this one.  It's a solid effort and excellent game.

Yes, it's fun.  I've really enjoyed both the single player and split-screen.

Wii doesn't have much of a FPS base but what it has are all playing this and CoD.   Played online on CoD a lot and the FPS community there was very consistent, I'm sure it is and will remain so with Goldeneye.   Now that Conduit 2 is out (to poor sales) there aren't any more Wii's FPS to look forward to (except maybe the next CoD) so Goldeneye will retain strong support from Wii's small but dedicated FPS based for a long time.

No co-op, no headset (or even Wii Speak) support.  Shame.   But a ton of fun when friends are over.

Just an official league thread.

In all honesty it was my favorite FPS last year.

Very VERY good singleplayer, great level design, cover system in an FPS that works something that "AAA" shooters seem to struggle with, everything but Wii motion plus is supported, no voice chat (which is the only shame if you ask me), 4 player local, 8 player online, multiplayer maps change when you're playing local 4 player or 8 player online, the maps actually adjust for the number of players to make it less likely for people to run in circles trying to find one another.

The game simply has modes and modifiers out of the wazoo, with all the combinations you can do you can literally have over 100 different types of games going on from the classic paintball mode to no melee (touching = both parties explode) it's just a lot of fun, it took a lot of cues from the original, Halo, and Call of Duty, rolled it up into one and did a very good job on all of it.

You can get it for like 30 dollars now, it's a must have it really is, don't hesitate on it if you like FPS games.
