thanks man :D appreciate the kind words

I do disagree on the who is  doom and glooming the most tho..you know something is wrong when have to you tell a poster by the name of Nintendogamer that Wii will do better than he thinks :P but yeah not something worth arguing or discussing about I guess.

Let me know where you're going to when the time comes...once NGP drops I might have to go there as well :P

I'm scared now. I came to this site to get away from fanboy rants on another site.
If this site turns to a fanboy war when NGP comes I might as well leave too. I don't need anymore of that crap.

were you around when 3DS was announced last year? if so you will have an idea of what he is talking about :D

I wasn't, so I don't. But I've seen it on other sites so I know what to expect.

give it time.  it will either pick up or it won't.  it's too early to tell.

i mean hell what time of year is it. wait till holiday when epople are LOOKING for cool gadgets and see if they pick this up.

i mean it took a while for the ds to become the huge hit it is/was.  A new console released in march of all times and people are expecting holiday numbers.

Er...even though it failed to meet projections, isn't it still the top selling games machine at the moment?

You can look at the chart pages and see yourself.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

majority of DS sales are for children especially at christmas time, i doubt parents will be buying a 3DS for them

core players will get a 3DS and possibly a small % of non core players will purchase but i dont think 3DS will be as big as DS

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I think its time for Iwata and Miyamoto to step down and quietly retire (and take Sakmoto and a few others with them), they are no longer helping Nintendo, instead their direction is a danger to Nintendo's future and its shareholders, they clearly don't understand the consumer or the market.

They clearly know some consumers (as they are all different, it is impossible to know them all) and have sold the system to them. All products are explained through advertising and it is how these are shown that makes the difference. The 3DS needs to hit a critical mass and doing so in April was always going to be a challenge. Nintendo have a lot of cards left to play.

Wii and DS were very easy for consumers to get, it required very little to get people interested, the 3DS shouldnt; need Nintendo trying to push consumers to use it and appreciate it.

You say they have cards to play, nothng they have shown indicates that they even understand the problem the market has withthe 3DS.

Easy to be critical, more tricky to do something about it. Tell me what Nintendo should have done to replace the DS?

I think the hardware is better, it does everything the DS does (and better) plus a load more. It's also doing much better than the DS did in its first month, by a large margin.

created an inexpensive handlheld with extremely high battery life, and launched with a bunch of old school games like 3D mario

I guess you mean 2D Mario? I think the console you are talking about is already available and is called the DS. No point releasing it again.

The thing about the Malstrom argument is it is unfalsifiable because it won't happen. If, indeed, he had a games company he would need to research the market to find out it is far more complex than the view he puts together, despite its usefulness.

The 3DS is making Nintendo money and that's important. We'll have to see how their strategy unfolds. I would argue that Iwata has much more detailed market information than does Malstrom, seeing as its his job to do so.

Considering that Miyamoto is behind pretty much all of Nintendo's multi million successes on the Wii and DS, please tell me you're not serious....   Without Wii Sports, I fear for what would have happened to the Wii.

He's also the guy who keeps trying to make 3D Mario instead of 2D Mario and probably the guy who wanted 3DS to be so focused on 3D that its a power hog

So yes I am serious, its time for them to leave and let others who understand the consumer better take over

Except you have no idea what Miyamoto 'wants' to make.

The DS didn't sell simply because of 2D Mario, no, it sold because of Brain Training and Nintendogs AND 2D Mario - plus a lot of other games and genres. The 3DS is trying to be something different and needs to be experienced by people for them to understand the AR and other excellent qualities. It also needs games. Would another 2D Mario help the 3DS? Somewhat, but I'm sceptical whether it would make the impact that you and Malstrom believe it would.

Actually, Malstrom also agrees that alone would not be enough. Those games you mentioned showed the general direction of the DS that people though was worth it, and he also insists people DO understand the features of the 3DS, they just don't think that's good enough.

Man i hope that 3DS fails, i hate 3D, hate it on every single game i had on ps3, wipeout HD, motorstorm, killzone 3... they all suck, i played with the 3DS, was cool for a minute, then felt the same way as all 3D, just nothings more than a useless feature... i hope this teaches them a lesson. Dont support useless tech and your fanbase will be there for u...., give your fanbase GAMES!

They emphasized so much the 3D concept on their machine that now its firing back, because people see it as a nintendo DS with 3D..., because a lot of people get like me just find it gimmicky and is not something i am willing to spend my money on...

I disagree. The AR itself is worth the 3D investment and it clearly makes some games easier to play.

In terms of Street Fighter, though, yep, massive gimmick.
