No, they Wii shipped 1.36 ... not anywhere near 2.5 mill.

Wii doesn't just need to outsell the PS2 by a small pace to beat it .. dude do the math.

Wii has to sell another 64 million units just to catch up to PS2, and PS2 is shipping at least 5 million a year currently ...

It's not gonna happen, let it go.

Don't know were you get your figures, but I went and checked on the vgchartz section, HW analasis, HW table, then Wii, total regions, Jan 02/2011 to Mar 26/2011, and it reads exactly 2,453,422 sales, so unless I'm doing something wrong, not sure where you got that from.

The maths? err not sure what you mean, but if the Wii sells, for example, 5 mill in a Q, and the PS2 3 mill, then every Q the Wii is catching up by 2 mill. Might take a long time, never said it wouldn't, but I'm not going to start predicting actual numbers here.

One last thing: the last line makes you sound so condescending.

Not exactly your fault here. VGChartz just estimates numbers so they were way off this quarter since official Nintendo shipments turned out to be much lower. And this is a huge decline so the future looks hopeless at the moment.

Why sheeeeit, just checked now and you're right, what an absolutely massive drop off. My bad here, guess the Wii is more f***ed than I thought it was. My excuses Seece.

But at least we learned something important here: THIS is what happens when you screw over your customers. Nasty isn't it?

No problem ..

I estimate Wii will finish anywhere from 109 million - 122 million TOPS.

150 million plus is just out of the questions.

I was persuaded it still could until Ninty announced Wii2 so early and basically gave up at the same time really pushing Wii anymore. Yes, it'll release some more games, yes, it'll cut price and keep on selling it, but its latest attitude about Wii's motion control made me change my mind: it's like it started wishing to quietly, softly killing it just because MS and Sony embraced it.

I'm kind of lazy, can you do the total between all low end, and all high end. To showcase the result.

I edited it in

Lifetime/86 million and ...
Low end - 23 million / 109 million
Middle/likely - 30 million / 116 million
High end - 38 million / 122 million

Thanks, I saw that. So pretty much a shoe in for beating ps1.

Yeah, unless Nintendo go crazy and did what MS did with the Xbox and discontinue it 4 months before it's successor is due out, that said Nintendo arnt losing buckets on the Wii so no reason for them to do that.

March 2012 they should be at at least 96 million (that'd mean they shipped 10 mill this FY) another 7 million over 2012/2013 isn't difficult.

I know Wii is waning bad, but people on here have such poor foresight, it isn't going to just stop selling one day soon. It'll likely still be selling (in small quantities) in 2015

So end what do you think for end of this year? I think 95M no more.

I expect Nintendo to fall short of their 13 mill figure by 1 mill at least, so 12 mill, 1 mill of that in Q1 2012. So I expect them to hit 97 million by the end of this year, shipped.

Hell no.

Fat chance of that happening.

Oh I meant 95M shipped also, but that sounds right.  I expect about 10M-11M.

I used to think that Wii could outsell the PS2 because I thought Nintendo was going to keep on pushing it but with a new Console on the way...it doesn't have a chance. I still think that if Nintendo waited to release a new System until 2014 or so and had Vitality Sensor and supported it with games it would have given the Wii a 2nd go...but they made it clear that they want to move on.

Lifetime Wii__114 Million

I can't tell you cause we don't have the aligned launches graphs and such anymore... and I'm too lazy to go through the data by hand.

It seems like it would still be possible to limp there.  Afterall, look at the PS2 itself, which kept selling even after superior versions of it were on the market.

I never thought the Wii would surpass the PS2. It's a legendary system that kept selling long after the launch of new hardware because major titles were still being released on it.

Something I have to admit though is, I never thought it would pass 60 million. I figured people would see the system for what I saw of it so many years ago. A Gamecube 2.5 with waggle control. The gems for the Wii were released few and far between. For me personally most of Nintendo's characters and franchises have absolutely no influence on me. Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Super Smash Bros. etc did nothing for me and hasn't done anything for me in decades.

Games that would have really got me onto the Wii sooner (I did purchase a Wii, used for 50 bucks at a pawn shop in excellent condition). Starfox is no where to be seen. Fire Emblem was under supported. The Final Fantasy games sucked and there wasn't enough stuff like Madworld and No More Heroes.

While PS3 and (to a very much lesser degree) 360 are still hitting their stride. Gears 3 looks f****** amazing. Uncharted 3, inFAMOUS 2, Twisted Metal and Resistance 3 look to blow down every door possible.

Yes. And the PS3 will outsell the 360 in the United States.

Wii 2 /Stream or whatever/ is launching sometime in 2012 so personally I believe it will kill Wii sales pretty fast. How about our visioners who expected Wii to sell 150 /or more than 200 - where the hell is johnlucas right now?/ million.

It really depends on how long Nintendo decides to keep the Wii out there and how low the price of the Wii falls. Is the Wii drops to $99 in 2012 and Nintendo keeps it on the market for 3-4 more years, it could catch the PS2,
