Forums - Sales - The Wii is the only console that sell with no games?

Lots?

I checked.

12.5 Million PS3's were sold, before the PS3 had its first major exclusive.

Close to 40 Million PS2's have been sold since the last big exclusive for that system too. Interesting fact here, by the time God of War 2 released, we were already 100 Weeks into the 7th Generation.

There are probably many more examples, but I cba to check.

So this thread is WRONGWRONGWRONG.

Perhaps, but I think he means as of this year really

People who wanted one already have one and there's no reason for people to buy one without any SW, yet it still sells better than the 360 WW, which had Kinect and a $500,000,000 advertising campaign...

I think that is a first, aside from the PS2, which is just because of its budget price. The PS3 was too expensive at launch and the PS2 was around £50. So people who wanted a gaming system bought a PS2 on the cheap. But 40mil PS2s is a hell of a lot...

As of this Year... Yeah... lol

Anyay. The Wii is not the only console that can sell without new SW.

Just to show how good the PS2 actually was/is... On the Week of MGS4 releasing (June 2008), the PS2 sold over 150,000 units WW (PS3 this Week was at 138k, Wii360 at 115k). This was 165 WEEKS into the 7th Generation, 8 YEARS into the PS2's life and over a Year after God of War 2...

People are buying it for the games that are already there

That's what I did when I bought my Wii in January. I was hoping for a Wii price cut in fall 2010, but when that didn't happen and I heard the Red Wii was being taken off shelves,  I got one of the last ones available.

Ever since I got my Wii I've only played Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, and Wii Sports. I own 6 more games, and I've played Metroid Prime 3 and Smash Bros before owning my Wii, but haven't touched them yet.

Also the games I'm looking forward to/hoping for the Most are niche games. Tales of Graces, XenoBlade, Pikmin 3, and The Last Story. Zelda looks cool, but I won't pay $60 for that game, and I don't think we will see a price cut on that game anytime soon.

people are buying them for games, just games that are already released and sometimes those that come bundled

PS2 is just a monster. I doubt any console will have the longevity as it...

O.o

Casual gamers don't care. If it's mario in the game it will sell. When you think about if they release a Mario console with just mario games it will probably sell better then Wii lol.

So, all Mario games sell the same, because "casual" players will pick whatever has Maro in it, right? And so that was the reason that, when Mario Sports Mix was released, Wii started to sell as much as the PS3 and Xbox plus DS combined, right?

Above: still the best game of the year.

In your opinion, the games are meh. In the general Wii owners opinion, those games are enough.

Anyway.

How many consoles did the PS3 sell until Metal Gear Solid 4 released? Can someone give me the info?

So, the fallacy that this supposed casual audience will just buy any shit they trow at them is brought up again. Then again you're just Carl.

See. This is the problem. Where did I actually say the games were shit? Hint - I didn't.

Games like your Deca Sports or Zumba Fitness or Smarty Pants or whatever all sell on the Wii. The Wii audience likes them. To me and you, yeah, in our opinion these games might be absolutely shit, but to the people who enjoy them (The Wii userbase) they're pure gold.

Stop trying to spin what I'm saying so it sounds like the usual paranoid "zomg Wii haterz" bullshit. It's starting to get boring after 5 Years.

No. You don't give people a choice so they either buy these or not buy at all.

It's not making much sense.

What you are saying is not making much sense.

The Wii has a large library of good games. With all this games to be played it is not very important that there are not many good new games at the moment.

In my opinion the Wii has the best game line up from all the current consoles.
