well over the christmas period, the PS3 has outsold the 360...
For the full year I think its about even, then take into account the PS3 wasn't released in Europe until March 23rd.

The real question is if the ps3 will do better than the xbox 360 did in 2007.

Not really, as its a little more than 5% difference between the two, in fact the difference between the two is about the same as the difference between the PS3 and 360 holiday sales percentage wise

you can't ignore the fact that the PS3 didn't release until the 23rd of March. It does make a difference.

You mean in Europe, right? To tell the truth I think that helped the PS3 in terms of 2007-only sales, the EU launch was pretty huge and compensates for the 2.5 missing months of sales IMO.

As many times as needed
If there weren't PS3's on the shelf I might say yes, but there are meaning even though people could have bought it they didn't , which means the extra few weeks wouldn't have made a difference

I can sort of understand what you are saying.
But won't you admit that the PS3 would have seen gains that the xbox did see if it had released earlier in Europe?
