Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Xenoblade Chronicles/Monado (Wii) coming to Europe

I see The Last Story fanboys have already raided this thread. Kinda sad when a much better game is staring them in the face.

I'm curious what the release date for the localizations will be once it is finally announced.  Right now I'm assuming that both Xenoblade and TLS will come over to the states at some point but how late Xenoblade releases in the year will give a good indication of how long TLS is going to take.  My bet would be that TLS will not release in the West in 2011.

LIES!!!

Though you're probably right. Xenoblade in September, TLS in March anyone? Then likely DQX in November next year, with ToG slotted in neatly somewhere...

Not bad.

I don't think there's a shot in hell for ToG, all we've seen announced for localization is ToG:F and I really have my doubts that they'll either put the work in to make the Wii version ToG:F or localize an obviously worse version of the same game at the same time.

If the game was going to be PS3 exclusive I think they would've already confirmed that and put on their site for the ToGF entry PS3 already instead of "TBA" and now "Coming soon!"

Perhaps, or maybe they just haven't decided quite yet, or they want to drum up excitement by leaving the platform unannounced for a while.  There are more explinations than just "it's multiplatform".  Hell they might be porting it to 360 for a Western release similar to FFXIII.  If I were you I'd keep your hope low.

There's no reason for them to spend extra porting the money to 360 and not do the slight tweaks necessary on the existing Wii version which, except for a few costumes and other extra junk, is precisely the same as the PS3 version right down to the assets

It's them leaving money on the table if they don't put a Wii version out, because it's still a Wii product at the fundamental level, 360 would make far less sense because they would actually have to do work to get that over, but if you have the PS3 version translated, that means you have the Wii version, except for a few assets that would be beyond painlessly easy to port over, and it would make no sense not to release both

The only issue is that this is Bandai-Namco, so the nonsensical is ever possible

It's possible that giving the Wii version up to ToG: F in content would be trivial, but from what I've read it has a 10 hours of new content and I don't think that's as trivial to port over to the Wii as you suggest.

In the end the only game announced for localization is ToG: F which only exists on the PS3 so assuming that the Wii will get a localized ToG game is just conjecture.  There are some details that could end up being proof of the Wii version but there are also other explanations for those little details as I mentioned.

...

Very good news..

Ever since it been released in Japan, i have hope for this.. Thank you Nintendo. Lucky us Europeans.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees best news I heard all week. Never expected it to happen, too.

I'm somewhat happy.

Good for the Euros, they always get screwed, but until i see a confirmation that it is coming to US, im not getting my hopes up, Ninty's localization has been wonky at best. If GE's online wasnt so fun id have been homebrewed my console.

10 hours built on an engine designed ground-up for Wii and just shoestringed into the PS3, though. The only problem that could come from that much extra content is that it might make the difference between DVD and DVD9 which would lead to a significant increase in disc production costs (though we could answer that if someone could find iso's online for Graces and Graces F), and given that we're talking about precisely the same engine, merely a matter of copy/paste

They can't do that of not bringing it to USA..... It will be a huge flop in EU, and only has chance of selling in America...

They did with Disaster...and the same thing happened.

In EMEAA I see it selling around 300k LT, in America, around 600k LT. Making the total 1 million. You can't say fairer than that!

Those predictions seem more driven by hope than precident.  I see nothing to make me think Xenoblade will sell so much more than things like Fire Emblem and ToS2.  Hell, those predictions might be more than the Xenosaga games sold.

The big difference here is install base, hype and advertising. Coupled with the fact it's been too long since the last 'great' JRPG and the people will be out in their thousands to get it. Here's hoping anyway. If that happens, NoE will likely take more risks and give us more awesome games

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Lucky europe, hoping we get the american confirmation soon... Xenoblade, The last story and Zelda in the same year? *Faints* Best year wii line-up ever...
