Its sad really, as the Zune was better than the iPods in many ways.

When referring to music only, I'd totally agree with you, as the interface on the zune hd is quite amazing in my opinion.

Zune HD uses an OLED screen. Videos are clearer.

Zune is not dead, it lives on in WP7.

I don't think WP7 stands a chance against iOS and Android.

MS will give it a shot though. Expect:

Nokia Play with buttons like Xperia play

Games like Gears of War, Halo, Age of Empires, Forza, etc

Achievements that are universal

XBLA games, easily transferable from your existing XBL library

That would make for a very attractive product, don't you agree?

I thought this thing was dead already. its a shame it was a pretty good product, but you cant topple those Ipod loving tweens, not this decade

The zune is dead. Long live the Zune!

Time for hype

I bet the only reason they shut it down was because i just barely bought a zune hd 2 days ago. They're just trying to piss me off, and it worked

What can I say, it makes me laugh.

So... I'm from Europe... what's a Zune?

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

They still have the zune software going though,(WP7/360) although they won't make any new hardware.

MS should've tried to sell the Zune outside the US. I remember when I was thinking about buying a PMP, I was debating whether to get an ipod touch or a zune hd. I decided on the zune hd, but they didn't ship them outside of the US! Buying one and having my parent's ship it to me from the US is a hassle and "importing" one via ebay was expensive. It was cheaper for me to get the touch locally at the time, which is why I ended up getting one instead of the zune.

shame, it was defenitly one of microsoft's best products and had it gotten the app support of the itouch would have been a million times better than it. Guess I'll need to deal with my itouch for a while longer.

I agree with you. Even with Nokia MS won't beat either of those 2...but that doesn't take away the fact WP7 is a great product.

In a few years when people see someone saying how microsoft is shit cause their phones failed again, hopefully they will remember its not cause the phones were shit but that MS wasn't able to penetrate the market for other reasons. Same thing with zune.  It was a situation where Microsoft had something as good if not better than competition but was not able/willing to put the resources behind it and make it a success.

Dude.. it's not great. You can't pseudo multi-task, you can't run an app in the background, once the screen is locked the app closes, office software but no copy/paste... wat.

Third party applications are awful and their perfomance is just bad. Network info/battery level being hidden unless you call them. A shot at copying the iOS in 2011 and with all the technology available MS makes WMP7 a bad OS in my book.

And the best pmp you can buy gets discontinued...oh well.

Looks like MS will downsize to a point where 10 people will run that company from a basement. 3 Windows guys, xbox live dude, Xbox 360 guy, windows phone guy and 4 Kinect guys...

I had to chuckle @this!
