Forums - Gaming - Devil May Cry 4: PS3 Vs. Xbox 360 Comparison Vid

iclim4: Will it bother me when I'm playing DMC4? probably not. But for a multi console owner such as myself, i would like to know what the best version is. I'm also not going to sit there while i suspect someone is feeding bullshit to all the fans. I have never seen DMC4 look as blurry and watered down as the PS3 version of the GT comparison, if you'd seen any of the previous trailers or gameplay videos it's easily noticeable. I know I'm not to only one that finds it strange that all the DMC videos I've seen are sharp and great looking but the GT trailer is clearly compressed to hell for some "random" reason. It's pretty sad to see all the PS3 owners say "ZOMG!! I can't tell a difference at all!" when there clearly is one.

WEWdeadeye: Hey, you can joke all you want. But if you can't find an answer to the evidence that I provide then maybe you should just lay low until you do have something smart to say.

When IGN releases something other than a piece of shit compressed comparison video, then we start comparing. Also, on 1up.com, one of the editors has his hands on the PS3 DMC4 preview build recently and has already beaten it, while the Xbox360 build has yet to be distributed by Capcom. How much sense would it make for Capcom to send the inferior version for a preview build? No developer ever does that, Infinity Ward showed off the xbox360 version of COD4 and it was the best version (even if the margin was hardly noticable).

Pretty disturbing. According to 1UP preview PS3 version looks better...

Looking at the video I don't see any difference in the game/gameplay.
However, at some places where they put the PS3 and Xbox version side-by-side, that the PS3 part has more compression (more blocks in the gradients).

So I don't think it's an honest comparison here.
Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure both games will look identical

Agreed. The games are nearly identical. Which is awesome. I'll be picking this up for PC personally. ^_^

Is that such a wise move? Capcom are not known for their excellent PC ports... the reason being because they've never done one! :P Resi 4... Lost Planet... DMC3... All the old Resi titles, Dino Crisis 2 going way back! They've all come out poorly on the PC :( I don't see this being any different.

You are a little confused. Where to start...

RE4 PC and Devil May Cry 3 PC were made by SourceNext. As were the old RE game ports and Dino Crisis 2. Not Capcom. SourceNext handles 90% of their PC ports.

Lost Planet is the exception, but it is just as good on PC as it is on the consoles. The problem is, it's a console Shooter, and it's not up to the standards of PC shooters. Games are judged by their company, and Lost Planet's company on PC is far above its company on consoles. It's just too arcady for the PC audience, and it doesn't control well with a mouse because it wasn't designed with a mouse (plays fine with a 360 controller though).

Finally, Devil May Cry 4 was built for the PC first this time, and ported to the other 2 consoles. Check Famine's post near the top of the page. It should run great on a PC. Of course, once again, it's not a good game to play with a mouse, but that's why I own a 360 controller.

When is the PC version coming? I doubt it's the same time as the console versions, doesn't that raise an eyebrow? Capcom's PC games has always ended up with glitches and problems, IMO it would be a mistake. Just because the engine and tools are PC led, doesn't mean it's going to be optimized. Look at crysis, it has better graphics than anything in the world but it runs like shit b/c it wasn't optimized.

The game was built for PC ... interestingly it will probably have the weakest sales on that platform ...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

PC release date is TBA still. I completely agree hunter-alien. PC sales will undoubtedly be the lowest, but as long as it runs smoothly I don't care. I think the reason they built it on PC first is because it's very easy to port a PC game to the PS3 and 360 (as long as you build the PC game within the capabilities of the 2 systems), whereas it's more difficult to build a game on the consoles then port to PC. Bioshock did the exact same thing. They knew most of their sales would be from the 360 version, but they built it on PC and ported it to 360.

they both are identical

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Like i said.... I smell BS on gametrailer's part, they clearly don't even have the Full RGB option on nor do they have the Super White option on, alot of people are also saying that the PS3 version is over compressed. Download the videos if you want to see for yourselves, just about every site has them.

Super white isn't going to do jack shit.

Now if you look at this image - http://aycu40.webshots.com/image/39159/2002947288991770529_rs.jpg

You can easily see that the detail on the gun is the exact same minus extra bloom/brightness, and the compression artifacts look about the same. So, unless you are suggesting that they went in and selectively removed details, I'd say thats how the game looks in its current state.

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"

Why do you all care which one "looks" better. I have yet to see a mulitplat game between the two that has a difference bigger than RE4 on PS2 and GC.

I understand the problems when Madden 08 played differently between the two consoles or that GTA4 will have more content on the 360. But, whether one shows a wrinkle in a hoodie or not is just stupid.

Basically, what I am saying is... IF you have both consoles and you want to know which one to buy, buy the one that has more features or is known to play better, even if that one doesn't have the best water effects or you can't see the nose hair on the enemy. Plus, on the 360 you have to pay for online so you should invest more games on that to take advantage of what you are already paying for.

Oh, and they look the same to me.
