Get your 3DS when it comes out, and enjoy your games. Enjoy the games around them if you like. Let them try out the games if they ask to.

Why are you trying to convince them?  Do you think Nintendo is desperate for their sales dollars?  If 3DS sales anything like DS (which according to your friend's thinking it will) then I'm sure Nintendo won't miss them.   The best way to prove them wrong is to get the 3DS yourself and enjoy the hell out of it.   If they still too much of a Sony snob to care, so what?  Sony needs sales too (more than Nintendo too).

However as for the comments:

"PSP looks much better [graphically] than 3DS" - Ah... no.  Look again.  Plus PSP isn't in 3D.

"3DS is for casuals; like the DS"  - So?  there were tons of great games on DS.

"Pilotwings is a minigame" - Yeah, I agree.  It's basically 1/8 of WSR maybe tripled in size to be 1/3 of a full game purchase.   As much as I'd love to play it, I couldn't justify full price unless there's more places than Wuhu Island (which I've explored every inch of)

"The 3DS line-up is almost completely made up of remakes" - Exaggerated but true.  It's called a launch line-up.

"Steel Diver is a tech demo, and a bad one at that" - Have they played it?  No.  Could be a ton of fun.  

"3D is a gimmick, and will fail like 3DTV" - Yet 3D is becoming the norm.  75% of Sony's TV line are 3D.

You weren't in high school during the Wii60 phase, OMG there was soooo much PS3 bashing in my school and the Wii and xbox fans all ganged up on it (said stuff like PS3 has no games, lost all exclusives, too costly, a big flop in USA already, Wii is innovative, Xbox has awesome online, PSN sucks bla bla bla), I was one of the two people who wanted a PS3 (it was going to cost £425 back then which lead to more bashing).

I remember Chemistry lessons were always full of debates about PS3 vs Wii60, its all we talked about for ages.

Bottom line: We PS3 loyalists now have it better (IMO!!!!). The wars payed off, I still remember defending the black coffin in 2008 on this here chartz.

Looking back at them, though - Khuutra's suggestion is the most painless.

LOL I had to defend it in 2007 all the way through the LAIR fiasco, GBA outselling PS3 WEEKLY and so on on the Gametrailers forums and vgchartz (my old account named just darthdevidem)

Whenever I hear of people getting fed up over their console getting hate, I honestly think they never had to go through the 2007 HELL of PS3 fans, it was a mixture of a giant falling from heights outrage combined with the system actually being pretty weak then combined with a whole armada of haters against it.

Yeah khuutra's suggestion is the best, either way if they think DS is library is mainly for casual games they are clearly of no concern since DS has the 2nd best library this gen.

well most have provided you with answers. Fanboys will always be fanboys. Maybe they will grow out of it and learn that YES all systems offer something different and all are fun.

3D tvs may have failed a little, but that woul be for the following reasons:

- People recently baught new HD TVs before 3D come out.

- People are wating for glassless 3D, or at least a cheaper alternative glasses (here in AUS they are over $150 each).

Once that happens and your friends love 3D tell them they are hypocrites

I never thought PS3 would be able to climb out of this hate to be perfectly honest. I don't think any other console could have done this.

Neither did I, it was so hopeless in 2007 and the final straw really was the book being written about PS3's failure (in Japan) and Uncharted 1 not showing Gears Of War type selling power or performance, that was something a lot of us were hoping for back then. But hey the title legged it out and the sequel...well the rest as they say is history. I don't think any other system could have done it either, PS3 has SONY's strong support and playstation brand strength to thank for that.

Gametrailers was a mess of the site, I hated that site being a nintendo-sony fan, being bashed by general gaming people non-stop, namely sony fanboys. Given I think those "fans" that were for the ps3, seemed like they were trying to get people to hate them, and some of the stuff they said was so outlandish (LOOK AT LEO-J POSTS ON GAMETRAILERS and even in his early years on VGC). 

Still who would have thought the biggest 360 fanboy Labwarrior would be right about FInal fantasy 13 coming on to the 360 and he said this back when ps3 was in its first year. 

Added: @Also at Darth, that statement about ps3 being a failure, is kind of true, in the business sense, it has a huge negative ROI, that will most likely never be positive.. 

Edit: I was Nintendo-Sony fan until the end of 2007, where I became full multiplatform person.
