Forums - Nintendo - Five Game Gear games coming to 3DS Virtual Console

I'd like to know other people's opinions about prices for handheld games. What would you all consider good prices for Gameboy, Game Gear, etc games?

Using the WiiWare/DSiWare pricing as a guide, I fear Nintendo will go gb/gbc for 500, while going to 800 for gba. GameGear could go 500 or 600, and TurboExpress 600.

I'd hope for lower values for the handheld virtual console, specially for the gb games, maybe subtract a 100 from all of them making it at the end: 300 GB, 400 GBC, 500 GG, 600 TE, 700 GBA.

Eh, I still have my Game Gear and Shinobi for that matter (game's fucking hard).

Nintendo, I'm sure, will just overprice the crap out of these games turning off most people.  They need to follow what Microsoft does with it's Deals of the Week, and the sales they often have.  Oh crap, that reminds me, Pac-Man DX is only 5 bucks right now...

Man Microsoft charged 15$ for Banjo and another 15$ for Kazooie.

Oh my living Christ

Ahahahaahahaha

I don't care if that's not what you meant to say, that is hilarious.

Man Microsoft charged 15$ for Banjo and another 15$ for Kazooie. Thats even more expensive then Nintendo sells its 64 games for. Microsoft charges really high most of the time so they can afford to do a deal every now and then. Also Microsoft makes money off of Live subscriptions to offset any less money they get from online games while Nintendo's only online profit comes from selling WiiWare and VC games!

Was not money spent to graphically upgrade those Rare properties to take better advantage of the HD output of the Xbox 360?

I'm not saying MS doesn't nickel & dime some aspects of their online set-up (stuff for Avatars should be cheaper), but I can see them charging more for games that have been reworked.  Upgrading from N64's blur-tastic graphics so that they look good in HD probably wasn't cheap.

I find a lot of prices on the XBLA to be pretty fair, and with so many sales and specials, it's hard to complain.  My girlfriend has downloaded almost as many games as she has purchased on disk for the system.  She catches pretty much all of them on sale.  Huge full-fledged games and game add-ons can cost 5 bucks.  And again, as was pointed out earlier, Sony charges like $6 for PS1 games to download on the PSP or PS3.  Nintendo charges 10 bucks for N64 games, 5 for NES and never has sales.

By the way, there are currently three free games on the XBLA, and they're not too bad.

Banjo Kazzoie/Tooie were simply uprendered, frame fixed (though BK at least still has some drops I noticed) and bugfixed iirc. I think they did something with the stop 'n' swap mechanic too (so it actually works now).  This isn't much different from what Nintendo does with N64 games on Virtual Console, they render in 480p and the framerates are smoother.  Unlike all the other VC formats, N64 games are actually improved over the originals.

Perfect Dark was the only N64 to XBLA conversion with actual redone textures and added functionality (ie: online play) I believe.  The Banjo games were essentially just high res N64 ports.

edit: Anyway, on topic I can't say I'm too excited about anything for GG, especially the games listed.  I hope we get NGPC though.

For 3DS VC prices I think it'll be...

  • GB/GBC/GG: $5
  • TG16: $6
...and if/when we get them...
  • NGPC: $6
  • VB/GBA: $8

Hiro Nakamura!!! WoW, I've been totally out of the loop these past generations.

Good to see another heroes  fan. That show died too soon. :(

Sweet for the 3ds btw.

To tell you the truth, the show died after Season 1 for me. Couldn't continue one-third into the second one.
Similar situation happened with Prison Break.

But Hiro was a great character :)

I have only seen the first season of prison break and the first 4 episodes of the 2nd season, and enjoyed it. As for Heroes, I never missed a single episode, and watched all of them at least twice. Things got better after season 2, but never returned to the glory of season 1.

Chump. I got N&Bs and Banjo Kazooie for $30 :p

And BK and BT weren't N64 games. They were the complete XBL versions. Not straight ports

On topic:  Woot! Never had a gamegear. good chance to test this out

Sig thanks to Saber! :D
