I'm just going by what I'm observing in the typicall behaviour of Christians, and what the Christian teachigns say.

And yet no Christian here on VGC even remotely defends the actions of Westboro Church but we all condemn their behaviour. What does that tell you? Nothing?

It tells me that people like to ignore the truth (in this case the uglyness of their own beliefs).

And what exactly is the "uglyness" of our beliefs (in the context of this particular thread and topic)?

"Gays will burn in hell."

Claiming "technically they are right, but they shouldn't say it so loud" isn't a particularly powerful condemnation of their actions. "Yes, gays will be punished by god for their wickedness, but so will lots of other people! You don't need to be rude about it." Does little to defend the system of beliefs.

They're going to eternal damnation for not believing in God, not for being gay.

That's a remarkable difference.

Really? Is there?

Yeah some will. It's not a truth that we ignore though. We (Christians) are very aware that lots and lots of people in this world will miss paradise because they turn away from God.

Well, really... when you look at it from the traditional point of view.  It isn't even "Lots of other people."

It's "All people."

The reason gay people are supposed to "burn in hell" actually has nothing to do with them being gay... well it does, but it doesn't.

Any sex not meant with the intent of procreation of a child is a sin.  Gay sex just looks like it's being targeted out because it's the "most obvious" crime, since sex can never create children in such a way.

There isn't a single person who would escape life without committing a sin, hence, all should going to hell based on the guidelines.

Hence why all are told not to judge. (and why these people are dumb)

And why all are forgiven of their sins.

Saying the bible says gay people are going to burn in hell for having sex, is a lot like saying that gay people are going to hell for thieving.

It's got nothing to do with the orientation, and everything to do with them having sex for pleasure.  Which is a sin for straight couples as well.

In the end, the core message of Christianity can be boiled down into one sentence:  "Nobody is perfect, and that's ok, so long as you are aware you are imperfect, aware of your flaws and strive to be better."

This is the price you pay for free speech, and it's a price I'm willing to pay. Listening to opinions you find outrageous and wrong may be difficult, but at least you're given an equal voice.

That's just apologetics kasz, to bring christianity into something less reprehensible to the modern zeitgeist. It's liberal christianity, which is merely an attempt to make christianity more palatable. And you and slimebeast would probably disagree with some of the finer points of the implications you are making. Will there be gays in heaven, or paradise, or whatever? Can a man fuck other men and love jesus and be rewarded for it? Or will they be punished for their unabashed refusal to conform to god's standards? We all in some way steal or lie on a regular basis, can someone like that get out of hell or whatever punishment? Depending on if you're liberal or conservative your view of those things are going to differ. Well of course you can get into heaven even if you lie on occasion, god is merciful. But you're totally going to hell if you have a cock and suck them too. The scriptures refer to homosexuality as an abomination. Unless you're liberal, then just understand that we're all abominations in god's eyes and be a good person and god loves you.

There are plenty of heros in the bible that fornicate, steal, lie, murder, commit incest, polygamy, get drunk, are idolaters and are still considered heroes for following god, good righteous men. There is not a single example of a gay or lesbian in the bible that is spoken of as being a true worshipper of god. Any time gays make an appearance it's only to show how dispicable and beastly they are. To say that the bible considers homosexuality the same as stealing or having sex for pleasure is disingenuous and is merely a way of trying to meet the more tolerant zeitgeist halfway. Which as calvin (from calvin and hobbes) once said "A good compromise leaves everyone upset". Gays are still an abomination, but really aren't we all? Which leaves both gays and conservative christians furrowing their brows.

Having sex before marriage and not trying to have a child is treated just as poorly.  That the bible has flawed hereos doesn't make that any less so.

That the bible doesn't have any gay heroes is only damning if you take the positon that the bible is wholey fictional.

Though as an aside.  When it comes to killing.

That's not a sin... though it's translated "Though Shall not Kill" a more direjct translation is "Though Shalt not Murder."

Man Vega Bond its not apologetic's its basic Christianity. The Bible clearly says "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God", "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that who so ever believes in him shall be saved and have eternal life".

So yes their will probably be gays in heaven, can I say for sure or not? No because I'm not God its not up to me to decide who goes to hell or heaven. Will many gays go to hell? Yes , what about Liars, yeppers what about people who lust uhuh or how about glutton's yeppers. What about the liar's, murderers and such that the Bible has as hero's. Look at all of them and see that the majority of them repented to those crimes and begged God for forgiveness. The ones that did not like Saul ended up getting the wrath of God so to speak and while they used to be great men of God he turned from God and was struck down in battle.

One can not earn salvation without Jesus Christ , because their isn't a single man on earth who is perfect and without sin. Now the Bible also preaches that Christian's are to turn from sin as much as possible as well as aknowledge the sin in their lives.

In other words a Christian is supposed to follow the teachings of Jesus. The teachings of Jesus are clear that no man is without sin, no man has the right to judge someone else for sins they commit or they themselves will be judged for their sin.

As for Sapphi saying Christian's are supposed to set all the non-Christian's straight. Jesus says to be a light and lead by example, he doesn't say to go out into all the world telling everyone how horrible they are and telling them to be better people. That is not the teachings of Jesus. However while Christian's aren't to judge it does say in the Bible that they are to correct other Christian's who go astray and try to lead them back to the fold. As I am saying about the WestBoro Baptist Church they need to be corrected, as what they are preaching and teaching is hatred and not the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I like how known agnostics here on VGChartz no the Bible better then some Christian's and better then many other agnostics.

I guess the problem is that the ideea that sex for pleasure is something "terrible", on the same level as stealing, is pretty insulting.

Also, straight people can marry, then go to confession, be forgiven for their sins, and live a happy life. Gays can form a couple, and genuenly love, care for eachother, and take care of eachother, yet their whole realtionship is one big sin, and they'll burn to hell for it. It's insulting that they're told to "repent" for what is probably the best thing in their life.

Chrisitans are really not the best people to take advice regarding sex (they have a very sex negative attitude).

Sapphi confession only exists in a few denominations of Christianity. In Christianity you must turn from your sin and repent. You can't just keep on sinning and not do anything about it, that would be hypocritical which I sense from talking to you is one of the reasons you strongly dislike Christianity.

Being gay is not a sin, having sex with another man/woman is a sin. In the same way a straight guy wants to have sex before marriage. Its not a sin to want its a sin to do so.

Then you mention homosexuality being put in the same catagory as theivery, but your forgetting gluttony. Over eating is just as much a sin as homosexuality. Its all sin even claiming to be righteous is a sin. No man is without sin.

As for all gays going to hell. I don't think all of them will. As I said in another reply that is up to God not myself, yourself or anyone else. I sin every day usually that I know of , however I try very hard not to and when I notice I am doing so I repent. If a homosexual has sex with another man and is truly repentant tries his hardest not to but falls again. Who am I to judge? God will see if the man is truly repentant, he will see if the man is a true follower of his word.
