Did you make a prediction back in June for total hardware sold by the December 31, 2007?

My predictions (here) were low on all three fronts. I underestimated Wii production increases, I didn't think Sony could get the PS3 down to $400 this year, and I assumed the RROD would have more backlash than it ended up having.

I came closest to reality on the Wii, but it's still going to overshoot by quite a bit. Way low on PS3 and 360. Almost dead-on for the PSP, and a bit under for DS. (1.6m+ per week?! Who knew?)

So how did the rest of you do? It looks like I was closer than the "average" prediction for all but the PS3, but I think the average numbers are skewed by people making wildly unrealistic predictions. Was anyone right on? Way off? Suck it up! My next prediction is that massive platters of crow will be served in this thread. :)

Well I don't think I am doing that bad considering mine are some of the oldest on the site. Over 6 months old.

I said "January 1, 2008 WW sales are Wii = 17m, 360 = 14m, PS3 = 8m"

Based on numbers right now on the front page and adding in two more weeks worth of sales.

I would say that:
Wii will hit 19m. So I am off by about 10.5%.
360 will hit 16m. So I am off by about 12.5%.
PS3 will hit 9m. So I am off by about 11%.

All in all I will be off by 1 or 2m, I think I did pretty damn good.

After the new year I plan on starting a Superchunk Prediction thread about myself so I can reduce the size of my sig and detail my prediction history. I actually made the 360 and PS3 prediction back in December of 2006, my first post. I later changed it to increase my Wii prediction since I originally thought the Wii would be in stock by April.

hummm...i'm stick to my 2-months-old prediction for wii (see signature)...but now i think that X360 will hit 16.4M and PS3 will hit 9M

*considering week ending on the 5h of January (NPD december will include it)

I think I only placed hard prediction on the Wii, which I placed between 16.5-19.5 by end of year back in August.

I would have underpredicted 360, which I would have placed ~13-14.5 (I recall putting this somewhere, but can't find my post...)
Would have under'ed PS3 at 7-8M
I underestimated the impact of the short Wii supply on the other consoles.

I originally believed that Wii would take the world, but with further understanding of the 360 (still don't have one). I now think that it will win Europe this gen and possibly US and win Asia-Pac (excluding Japan). The 360 has a viral attach rate that will win the key gaming demographics, setting it up well for the next gen of console after the 360 (tho it's still FAR, far away)

Wii has simply not caught on in much of Europe, hence fertile grounds for 360.

I still think that PS3 will fail this gen.

I think I did pretty good, only underestimated the DS, and overestimated the 360 a bit. I think the rest will end up just like my preditions :D. I think I did great fot a prediction back in APRIL.
