This pirates movie probably won't do as well the one you listed that didn't beat the potter movies was the last entry. This is the final harry potter movie. There won't be any more. This could well be the biggest of them like how return of the King was for LOTR.
Shreks 4th movie didn't do as well as the previous 2. Not sure how it compaired to the first. So with history here we can see what might happen with the next Pirates.
How well have the transformers done compaired to Harry Potter?

How well have the transformers done compaired to Harry Potter? well if pirates stranger on tides does better than dead man's chest we know who won that won i have a feeling harry potter wil do a bit over 1 billion if good reciption and hype! pirates should get 800 million at the minimum and 1.5 billion max with really good reciption and a couple oscar nominations
harry potter will be...... i expect over a billion worldwide.... I mean cmon its the last one..... It ends here..... many people want to see how it ends..... I know alot of people who are gonna go see it who havnt seen a harry potter in theatres yet, just on dvd..... i hope mission impossible and transformers 3 do very well..... well see though

well i'm actually waiting for dark knight rising to come and destroy everthing but avatar and titanic!
transformers 3 : dark side of the moon , will take domestic sales and harry potter 7 part2 will take worldwide sales i believe
also i believe transformers 3 will take down dark knights opening weekend sales record and i will be thank full, since i hated the dark knight. :)

$314million to $377 million is a $63 million differece and that on it's own would be enough to move any move up the list of highest grossing movies other than the top 3.
The second to last Harry Potter Movie is currently the second highest grossing. Harry Potter movies make up 4 of the top 12 (for WW) so even slightly better would have it be right up there with the higher two of the pirates movies.
I don't know about pleanty of room for other movies to beat it. It could be beat last year would people have expected Toy Story 3 and Alice to both do over a billion? I doubt it. However Harry is likely to hit a billion so Pirates could beat it this year. Altough the last pirates movie didn't do as well as the first two. Or something else could come along, but my bets are with Harry.
