February until this past week averaged 81K per week which in itself is an increase from January. Historically isnt February down compared to January.   Then this week it jumps to 96K without anything to boost the sales (there were gift card offers all through January as well so that isnt it.). 

Doesnt make sense.

and then people complain that PS3 is undertracked... I think VGC still needs to adjust for January, the January average for PS3 has gone up in the last 2 weeks.

I don't get why some of you use NPD numbers to suggest VGC is grossly overtracking.  NPD is only US (maybe Canada too, can't remember), while VGC is all of Americas, North and South.  And if we adjust to their numbers, we may have to readjust when shipment numbers come out again in April.  Though, in the PS3's case, this is usually what happens.

No it's a representation of the people who play Killzone and Halo. Halo is mostly little kids, and Killzone is people who have a copy of GT5 as well, Still the damn little kid can outrun that Subaru.

I was thinking of something similar. The Japanese car is technology (PS3's touted better graphics/Blu-Ray) and guy on foot is the primitive mode of transport, no tech here besides a pair of kicks (an American pair of Chuck Taylors) represents Xbox/Halo. Primitive Halo man wins this race.

Wow, that I think was just a burn towards the 360. I don't think the tech difference between the two is that different. The only difference between DVD and blu-ray is a different type of light reading the disk (a blue beam instead of red).

I'm not looking to beef with you but don't you think the bolded can be seen as a knock?

Anyway I didn't mean anything negative towards any console with my post, like I said, it's just what I saw.



I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

This time last Year, the Wii outsold the 360 by over 100,000 Units.

The talk of difference between the PS3 and 360 is up for debate (though each has striking advantages), but the difference between DVD & Blu-ray is substantial. Disc space for starters.


I know there are people that say they don't see a difference in PQ but I can't believe that. Blu-Ray smokes DVD in this area....SMOKES it !!!!!

hmm that really is amazing when you think about it. The pain of PS3's YOY decline blinded me from seeing that part.

You know how Blu-Ray has more disk space? Blu-Ray systems read the data 5 times faster, so you can fit 5x as much data into the same space on a DVD. The disk is nearly the same with all optic properites. You know it's just a peice of glass bounded with plastic right?
