Forums - Gaming - Pirates, admit you're thieves

@livingmetal  you sound like my grandma, but i dont disagree, however I was referring really to the old as hell games. its not like you can go to the store and buy them and if you could it would be some thrift store so its not like the developers are going to get money on that either way. One would argue that you can buy of WiiWare/PSN (this is what i have been doing, FYI)

I wish we took a stronger stance against game pirates here, like banning them all. They go without any punishement .. heck even one of our MODS is a proud pirate ... disgusting, doesn't deserve to play video games.

I think we should take a stronger stance against people who use avatars for games they probably aren't very good at.

(the real deal / still something to prove or gtfo)

lmao, so piracy only counts when the developers are losing money?

Please, I am tired with all you self promoting rightous freak with half assed ethics in piracy.

With just a few glance more than 90% of people in this thread are already commiting piracy or plagiarism.

Googling pictures and use it as your avatar or sigs ---> pirating/plagiarism

modifying googled pictures ---> pirating/plagiarism

downloading any sort of rom ---> pirating/plagiarism

googling porns off internet ---> pirating/plagiarism

listening to cover songs off youtube ---> pirating/plagiarism

listen or watching non-official songs/video/anime off youtube/internet ---> pirating/plagiarism

searching for lyrics off internet ---> pirating/plagiarism

As long as you use internet you pirated. Its fact.

Dont give me this bullcrap about piracy in video game as if its all that matters.

And when developers/creators dont give a fuck about you pirating, it still doesn't mean youre not pirating.

What's funny is, Jim mentions these pictures that say it's not stealing it's "sharing".

Did some of you even watch the video? lol

It's stealing. "You should be paying for it you dumb cunt".

I might put that it my sig. Wonder if the C word can get me banned...

Bah, I pirated Medieval: Total War and loved it. Since then I have bought Medieval: Total War plus expansion, Rome: Total War plus expansion and Medieval 2: Total War, and I will buy Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2 when I have got a new computer. So my excuse is good.

I have never pirated a video game though. I use emulators, but those games stopped selling decades ago, and only a fraction of them are available through Virtual Console.

I did watch the video, it's just that on the issue of calling the act "stealing" he's wrong. And so are you, if you agree with him.

Note that I'm not adding "in my opinion", because this is not a statement of opinions: copyright infringiment is not theft in legal terms, and is a very different thing even in ethical and logical terms. Twisting words beyond their breaking point and muddling the waters is a rethorical technique, but it doesn't magically grant weight to the truth of an argumentation.

i.e. just because someone chose to call it "intellectual property" doesn't make it property. And where there's no property, how can be theft?

I don't pirate games and disagree with those that do, but effectively purchasing a second hand game might as well be pirating too as the developer does not see any of those moneys, and you are effectively making profit for the gamestation or wherever you purchase the second hand game, but that's just my opinion. I am not against purchasing used games, as even I do that sometimes, but I disagree with those that feel it their birthright to experience a game they are not able to afford but willing to pirate, it is theft. There is nothing more to it really.

It's in constution your right to entertainment,

So if you can't buy and pirate the government should pay (all those gaming tax could be used for it)

You should be paying for it.
