Those PS3 numbers in the states...it's the one missing key from ensuring second place in weekly sales.

Still, overall it's a tie, and I'm happy for every console.

What could Sony do?? they dont have half a billion to spend like Microsoft did. at least PS3 is competively doing well despite the price and marketing advantages of the other 2 home consoles.

So now Sony is the little company that could?

Gotta love it!

While I know that comment wasn't aimed at me (I hope at least ), I'm not sure I understood what you meant.

He's saying that it's great that Sony went from making so many mistakes with the PS3 and beling plagued by bad press when the PS3 was first launched to being most successful 3rd place console in console history with software support that rivals if not exceed its competitors.  Very logical and reasonable.

Wasn't expecting the 360 to be tied with the PS3

Also ME2 sells quite nicely this week.

so this weeks random GT5 comparison brought to you by "insert name here"

GT5 to JD2! IF there were games of similar target audiences than this, one would be utterly shocked!!!!

lol gotta love the attempts to downplay GT numbers every single week

Sony is a HUGE company.  When they came into the console industry it was seen as unfair because how could small companies like Nintendo and Sega compete with one of the biggest electronic companies in the world?  In the end Sega couldn't compete financially and Nintendo only managed by being able to remain profitable even when Playstation 1 and 2 stomped all over them in terms of sales.

Microsoft on the other hand was laughed at when they tried to enter the console market with the original Xbox.  The prevailing sense was that they could never compete with Sony.

Now you have people trying to portray Sony as the poor little underdog to the big bully Microsoft.  What a load of crap.

Even though I'm sure you're being sarcastic I wanted to point out that's exactly not what I meant.

Sony's poor decisions this gen are in no way related to Microsoft marketing budgets.

Going from 1st to 3rd in one generation is not success no matter how much you want to spin it.

You can guarantee that the ps3 will be 10% under tracked and the 360 will be 10% overtracked oh well

statisical tie alert!!

Why can you guarantee this?  Are you suggesting bias? Will you never learn?

This site is biased! Against Mickey Mouse! :(

:P

- PS360 at a virtual tie !

- DC Universe has a good opening for the PS3. I didn't expect it to break 100,000 in it's first week.

- Demon Souls is close to 1 Million lifetime !!!

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

That is up to Sony to figure out. I still think they'll have a great year. All these game releases, and a price cut (if they can afford it) would ensure healthy US sales.

Then Sony should stop wasting money on those stupid Justin Timberlake and Peyton Manning commercial.  Heck I still see more Kevin Butler commerical then both 360/Wii combined.  Its just a myth that 360 spend more on TV spots then the PS3 here in America.

Yeah, I think Sony needs to revise their marketing strategy. There have been some successful cases, like Heavy Rain, but a good number don't seem to be quite effective like their competitor's strategies.

PS3 sure did flop in America overall. By the time a Xbox 3 and PS4 come out, PS4 wont even stand a chance.

Who knows.  I can't think of anyone that came into this gen thinking that the 100 lb gorilla Sony would be a distant 3rd in NA.  Things could flip again next gen.  Last gen to this gen should make CLEAR that there is no measurable correlation between performance in one gen to another.

Well, except for Sony's early performance this gen being based almost COMPLETELY on their reputation.
