Like I said before the numbers now are off...

360 overtracked here by 700k in US (NPD numbers).

LOL!! What?!? If that's true, then the PS3 is probably overtracked as well and so is the Wii. We'll see how much the numbers are off. I doubt is 700K.

The gap will grow for the next few months I think. Only Japan is keeping the PS3 close right now. If Japan drops down to the 20K-25K, then the 360 will definitely have a gap increase.

With the Kinect price dropping before the holidays as well as the XBox 360, sales for these systems are going to increase like crazy. Especially in America. PS3 sales in U.S. were not the greatest this holiday. At one point both the Wii and 360 outsold the PS3 by 2:1 in the U.S.

Why PS3 will be overtracked too???

Anyway 360 and Wii adjusted DOWN... PS3 flat because it never overtracked here.

Soon 360 will be ajusted down in EMEAA too... waiting financial numbers.

And PS3 WON this and last week WW.

Aside from holidays, PS3 will win every normal week. You will see.

As others have mentioned and myself time and time again it would seem...

If your basing your "everything needs to be adjusted down except the PS3" thing on NPD numbers then PS3 is 550k over-tracked for the year on VGC, in comparison to NPD.

There have been months where the PS3 was severely over-tracked on VGC in the last year and it didn't get adjusted down. Most recently november where it was over-tracked by well over 100k.

Can't have it both ways. If you want 360 and Wii to be adjusted down on the basis of NPD numbers then you have to want PS3 to go down too. For the year PS3 was just as over-tracked as the 360 was.

Really? Hummmmm...

NPD is US only... PS3 US is about  83% of NA... the others consoles are 86% (Wii) and 87% (360) if I remember.

So make the maths and show me the 550k overtracked.

I think we all know NPD is US only...

This is the maths.

3rd of January 2010 to 1st January 2011 vgc has PS3 at 5.542m  in Americas.

5.542m  x 0.89 = 4.932m PS3 units in US for 2010 on VGC.

NPD for 2010 have PS3 at 4.319m units for the year.

4.932m  -  4.319m  = 613k  difference.

I.e VGC has PS3 over-tracked by 613k in comparison to NPD for the year of 2010.

That is the maths.

So remember every time you say you want the 360 marked down because VGC have it over-tracked in comparison with NPD, remember to mention the PS3 too in that won't you :)

Obviously the site currently is in a constant state of flux. Five minutes before Japan data was up, the gap was at 4.5m. With the data (PS3 >XBox360 by 50k), the gap suddenly jumped UP to 4.7mio. So the 750'000 overtracked XBoxes currently equate to a 0.3mio correction... Stay tuned for the minutly gap change, though

5.542m  x 0.83 = 4.6k

300k difference... and that not the law here... just ioi know the real US numbers of VGC... all the others maths are just estimations.

Like the last adjustments on 360... the estimates says 2.6m for December in US (based in NA numbers) but the adjustmanet was just 300k... so the real US number was 2.2m and not 2.6m.

So if the proportion for PS3 are 0.79 =  4.37m.

That doesn't surprise me for this site. Everyone already knows the numbers on here aren't accurate anyways. Nothing but guesstimations and then lots of adjustments every week. NPD numbers isn't completely accurate either. They do not track every retailer in the U.S. They don't even track Wal-Mart from what I've read. So chances are good the numbers are low for NPD anyways. I would love to see console sales for just Wal-Mart alone. lol!!

'gaming till I'm gone'

Considering that despite what MS brought to the table this year, PS3 still outsold the 360 by over 300/400k for the Year (after recent adjustments)... I think the gap will decrease.

The PS3 will outsell the 360 for January/February, and possibly up until the 360 has a pricecut or something.

When the 360 gets a cut... I assume that Sony will counter-cut a short time after. It could also happen the other way around, but I assume that MS will cut first due to the last 360 cut being in 2008. Probably in the Summer to keep numbers up after the Slim released the same time.

Honestly, for the year... I would say the PS3 could have a 15/16 Million year if all goes well. The 360 I think will be in for 13/14 Million... 15 at a push.

I think this year will be a "saw-off"...  PS3 will lead until 360 gets supply in order in early Feb.  Then, 360 will lead until April-ish.  Then, PS3 will get a price cut and take the lead through summer.  Then, 360 will price cut in Madden/September timeframe and they will re-take the lead.  By holiday 2011 they will be running neck and neck for the year.  And at the end of the year the difference will not be significant.
