The gap will grow for the next few months I think. Only Japan is keeping the PS3 close right now. If Japan drops down to the 20K-25K, then the 360 will definitely have a gap increase.

With the Kinect price dropping before the holidays as well as the XBox 360, sales for these systems are going to increase like crazy. Especially in America. PS3 sales in U.S. were not the greatest this holiday. At one point both the Wii and 360 outsold the PS3 by 2:1 in the U.S.

Why PS3 will be overtracked too???

Anyway 360 and Wii adjusted DOWN... PS3 flat because it never overtracked here.

Soon 360 will be ajusted down in EMEAA too... waiting financial numbers.

And PS3 WON this and last week WW.

As others have mentioned and myself time and time again it would seem...

If your basing your "everything needs to be adjusted down except the PS3" thing on NPD numbers then PS3 is 550k over-tracked for the year on VGC, in comparison to NPD.

There have been months where the PS3 was severely over-tracked on VGC in the last year and it didn't get adjusted down. Most recently november where it was over-tracked by well over 100k.

Can't have it both ways. If you want 360 and Wii to be adjusted down on the basis of NPD numbers then you have to want PS3 to go down too. For the year PS3 was just as over-tracked as the 360 was.

Really? Hummmmm...

NPD is US only... PS3 US is about  83% of NA... the others consoles are 86% (Wii) and 87% (360) if I remember.

So make the maths and show me the 550k overtracked.

This is the maths.

3rd of January 2010 to 1st January 2011 vgc has PS3 at 5.542m  in Americas.

5.542m  x 0.89 = 4.932m PS3 units in US for 2010 on VGC.

NPD for 2010 have PS3 at 4.319m units for the year.

4.932m  -  4.319m  = 613k  difference.

I.e VGC has PS3 over-tracked by 613k in comparison to NPD for the year of 2010.

That is the maths.

So remember every time you say you want the 360 marked down because VGC have it over-tracked in comparison with NPD, remember to mention the PS3 too in that won't you :)

5.542m  x 0.83 = 4.6k

300k difference... and that not the law here... just ioi know the real US numbers of VGC... all the others maths are just estimations.

Like the last adjustments on 360... the estimates says 2.6m for December in US (based in NA numbers) but the adjustmanet was just 300k... so the real US number was 2.2m and not 2.6m.

So if the proportion for PS3 are 0.79 =  4.37m.


It isn't x 0.83 or 0.79.... it has been between x0.87 and x0.89 always. If your going to use maths to try and proove a point at least have the right numbers.

It is quite funny that you can't seem to accept that all three consoles have been over-tracked. Does it really bother you that much?

Well....Sony is approaching China´s Markets, si, if that´s the case I belive that the gap will get closer, without it I dunno, the kinect is helping xbox a lot apart from what I and many did belive...

PS3 NA sales: 1,201,311
360 NA sales: 2,366,701

PS3 NPD sales: 1.2m (confirmed?)
360 NPD  sales: 1.9m

PS3 US ratio: 1
360 US ratio: 0.80

The PS3 number was odd... but the 360 ratio was 0.80 for US and not between x0.87 and x0.89.

Like I said the ratio is a vgcharterz guesstimations... only @ioi know the real one.

china market?i am telling you it will flop hard

Microsoft has some time now trying to get to china.....that market is hugeeee and for those companies is not yet exploted.... If Sony does the right thing on the right way, things can go difrent for them, even with piracy and all what going  to the chinise market involve.....

 

Remeber they are talking on making specifc games for that market and culture, with goverment control and all....if that happens,m we are talking of minimum, at least more than 5 million legitit new ps3 customers....but im speculating here....

Outside of holidays, i think the PS3 will outsell the 360 and yes only cause of Japan. But thanks to holidays, it will sell high so it will probably increase the gap a little, but not more than say 5-8 hundred thousand.

Well the shipment numbers come in...And would not be surprised if those numbers will lead to another shockwave on VGchartz;..

If the shipment numbers show us that the gap became smaller than 3.6million;..I give it 86,73% chance the PS3 will surpass the sales of the X360 this year;.

This based on the information we have at the moment...

So much can chance;..MS may announce some Exclusives, some huge kinect games, price reduction etc..

But what we know now;..I just don't see how MS can hold the sales of the X360 above the PS3..

Thanks for the info. So only beaten by 380k which isn't  a lot. 2011 is sure to be interesting.
