@rolstoppable  then people wonder why some "hardcore gamers" are not to enthusided about Ninty in general

Well, "hardcore gamers" slapped Nintendo in the face years ago with the Gamecube. What goes around comes around.

Anyways, we've heard nothing about the online at all except for one game. I'll wait for next week's announcement for a final judgement.

i second this, while nintendo should have stepped up to the plate with the online, i dont think those harcore gamers would of cared anyway, this is the attitude nintendo has developed and i think those ppl that shunned the gamecube have to have had some part to play in nintys mindset

Of course this also probably means no account system like PSN/XBL/steam etc and any DLC games you buy are stuck on that 3DS and never on a different 3DS, so if you ever wanna buy a new 3DS model or if it breaks or something....you lose them all.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! This is patently false! If you call Nintendo's consumer service if your product breaks they will fix it or transfer over your content if they need to replace it. I'm sorry, but I hear this all the time and it's consistently wrong. If you call Nintendo instead of willy-nilly buying a brand new machine, they will always take care of you. Period.

What about people who don't live in the USA ? i can't call them.

@sempuukyaku Hey, I actually bought a Gamecube i loved my little platinum box, but yeah I do agree with you on that. Still dont understand how it lost to Xbox.

If this is true EPIC, and Imean EEEPPPIIICCC, FAIL on Nintendo's part.

Can someone hack the 3ds and take away the friend codes, or is it tied to its OS or something?

It's tied to the game software and network software in such a way that you would have to both hack the game and reroute the servers. Not impossible, given that i've seen some online games have completely private servers set up, so its not impossible, but then you would be isolated to the community on the private server

Its not viable, really

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It is crap, you need send them a console with the hardrive working, if you Wii breaks and the memory is buggered you are screwed, if your consle is stolen you are screwed, if you buy a second console for use elsewhere you are screwed.  You cannot trade in an old model to fund a new one either since you need both in working order to send off.  Screwed.

You are either seriously lying, or misinformed.

THAT IS NOT TRUE.

If your Wii breaks, and you call Nintendo's consumer service, they will setup a repair for you and have you ship it in. If they find that they are not able to repair your Wii, they will replace it, give you a new one year warranty, AND TRANSFER ALL OF THE CONTENT OVER. If you  decide on your own to buy a brand new $200 machine instead of paying the $80 to Nintendo to have it repaired, well then yeah you may not be able to have your content transferred over. That's why smart people (like me) call Nintendo directly and have them take care of everything for me. Again, either you are just straight up lying or you just are completely misinformed. I hope it's the latter and not the former.
