Oh my.....

Iwata: 3DS shipment for Japan this FY (through March 31) will be 1.5 million. The remaining 2.5 million will head to the rest territories outside Japan.

They delayed the launch to build hype, and develop a consistent and effective marketing strategy, while also giving devs more time to finish their games.

Building more hardware was only an excuse and, if it wasn't, now they're clearly ready for a consistent year of buyer demand.
