No one relates Donkey Kong or Donkey Kong Jr. to the Donkey Kong Country games.

Above: still the best game of the year.

No he meant that Donkey Kong Country: Returns isn't Japanese either. |
Doesn't matter, the other Donkey Kong Country games are good examples too.

This is one of the biggest bulshits that exist. How did then Donkey Kong Country was popular? There was no similar game with him as character before. How did Halo got popular? It's first game sold VERY well, despite the sequels selling better. Same for Crash, or whatever character you want to pick up. It depends solely on the quality of the game. |
The market is more saturated. And in my opinion, it didn't really fail.
i think japanese folks simply dont care for stuff from other countries as much as their own. (.. hm.. Gamecism? xD)
but i dont care as much for stuff that isnt japanese either because meh luvez J-RPGs. :>

I can see there is no point in discussing this with you... I'll leave you to it. |
Why there isn't point? It is fact that the Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Country are not related exepct for both having "Donkey Kong" on the title. The Donkey Kong Country games were all non-japanese, and barely had Nintendos HQ hand on it, and yet they sold extremmely well in Japan. The thing is that you can't compete with the facts and that's why you're leaving.

do we have any japanese member.. Maybe he can shed better light on the matter..
as other mentioned LBP is reasonably successful worldwide. but in Japan it sold i think 150k.. WHY?
It's sold 170k, making it one of the best selling Western developed games in Japan this generation. That's pretty darn good, if you ask me.
The only Western title that has sold a considerable amount in Japan this generation is Donkey Kong Country Returns, and that is partly because it is a brand that has been popular in the country for decades, and its quality matches that of its popular predecessors.
On the other hand, LBP has outsold the last four Metroid games quite handedly, which is another example of a popular Nintendo franchise being placed in the hands of a Western developer for a time. It even outsold Other M, which is the first console game in the series to be devleoped by a Japanese developer in a decade.
Maybe if they actually release the FF7 pack that was announced for LBP...
It fail because sackboy is not a plumber or have awesome facial fur.
