I do not think that different opinions always net a ban, but there are instances in which they do.

I just like posters to be as honest as possible, which is why I lurk on N4G, especially once they got rid of the Open Zone.

I have also been here for over 3 years and I remember the likes of Gebx, who was obviously anti-sony, although almost everything he posted was actual news articles, yet he was banned many times for what was considered "flamebait" just because of his console preference.

You can't tell me you don't remember instances like that.

It is just like Pizzafacegamer now. He is so obviously anti-sony and posts tons of anti-sony threads, yet I don't really think they are always worthy of bans just because it is always negative.

Someone has to bring the negative news. Nobody would expect the pro sony guys to do it right?

That's really not a good example, because he himself admitted to searching the web for negative Sony news articles to post them on the VGC forum and get a rise out of the Sony fanbase.

Neither is PIzzaFaceGamer, because what he does easily adds up over time. Someone who is notorious for doing something will eventually get banned, because it's obvious to everyone what his intentions are.

Wow, of all the people to bring up Gebx it's Euphoria ...

What is that supposed to mean?

Whilst you're not as bad as him, you're not far off. I think you only post positive news so you have something to fall back on, lets face it you don't own a 360 yet you feel the need to "bring the negative news to all the 360 owners here else they wouldn't see it"

Really ... say that out loud Euphoria.

Wow....so you have to own something to be entitled to post something negative about it, even if you don't have ulterior motives behind it?

So, let me get this straight then. If someone, who also don't own a PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, PC, iPhone or whatever that's currently trendy in the electronics department, and gives negative information about any of those, just for the sake of information, they're automatically labelled an opposer to it?

Must be easy to live in a world where everything is quickly labelled like that. Myself, I'd rather not label people at all, especially if those people show that they have no ulterior motives.

As I said, at least Euphoria posts news about every console, be it negative or positive. Unlike a lot of members here on this site.

I owned a 360 from February 2008 - October 2010. After I sold it I lost all right to post 360 related news whether it be positive or negative. Since I kept Tales of Vesperia however, I am still allowed to talk about it.

Go look, it is in the rules.

I'm not attacking you, just stating what you do on this website. If there is nothing wrong with what you do, then it can't be attacking can it

It's not "just a few" negative articles, there have been times I've seen up to 3 negative MS articles on 1st page of MS forum. You can try and twist and turn the reason why "Oh he should be allowed, just because he doesn't own the console doesn't mean he can't post negative news"

The FACT of the matter is, whether it's right or wrong, whether you have good intentions or not, you're not helping this site, you're just making it more hostile by riling up 360 fans. And yes others do it on other consoles (not really to the same calibre as you used to) and they're just as bad.

This thread deserves a "cool story bro"

Maybe, then, fans of a console shouldn't be so insecure as to be riled up by negative news.

Actually, they just don't want too. Well at least Tor doesn't anyway, I always ask for him to calm down threads and he says until someone starts getting out of hand he "can't" do anything??!

It's like waiting for a class of children to start setting fire to the tables before telling them off ... I have always believed if the mods were more hands on and "visable" stoping arguments from happening in the first place, or just putting friendly warnings in threads to clam things down a little, a lot less crap would happen.

That and some common sense when judging obvious stealth trolling, not you though rol, I think everything you say is actually with good intentions.

The issue with banning people for what you deem as stealth trolling is that it requires you know the person's intentions.  Unless I have a very easy to recognize pattern I'm not going to just assume someone's intentions.

So the site is only helped when positive news is posted? You're not doing your userbase any favors by not bringing them the news from every angle. Why do you think so many browse sites like N4G for gaming news? Obviously we hurting the site by not posting enough news, which is why Brett was so curious to know where we all go for our news and wanted explanations as to why.

I guess I hurt the site yesterday too when some PS3 fans got riled up from my Geohot thread. I was even called a supporter of piracy, not to mention this week I was also called a Nintendo hater, now obviously it is thought that I have something against the 360.

It's not my fault that some users can't except that negative news exists, not to mention can't accept that not everyone has a positive view on everything. Seems I piss off everyone equally.

In reality, I don't hurt the site at all.

Who said anything about banning?

Also about you saying that I am not far from being as bad as Gebx.

I didn't say Gebx was bad, just how I didn't say Pizzafacegamer was either. In that post I was actually defending them.

Yes you do, you try to bring out the worst in people. Just being a PS3 fan posting 360 news on it's own is provocative, whya re you so obsessed with doing it?

It's not about being easily riled up, if you like coming to the charts, and keep seeing negative article after another (of which I might add are crappy peices of news not worth knowing anyway most of the time) then it becomes tedious. Couple that with the fact 10's of gloating fans come in to troll and stealth troll, and yes a lot of people get pissed off, and you've created a shit storm. Again whether that's right or wrong is neither here nor there, the end result is the same.
